"Genuine OEM Energizer Ultimate" from eBay

As a regular user of Energizer Lithium Ultimate AA batteries as a backup for photo flashes I'm really interested in the performance of OEM Energizers. For now I have a stock of retail Enerizers so I don't thimk I'll be buying them anytime soon. As for the price of Energizers I found them on sale at a local store for 2,99€ per pack of two batteries (AA that is)

Wow 2 pack for EURO 2.99 is a pretty good deal.
I found the 4 pack in Holland about 5 months ago for 5 euro.. on sale...

lowest Ive seen them in Holland...

Here in Japan I have never seen them for a good price.

Here in Finland I once saw them about 1€/pcs in packs of 6. Bought only one...........

Regular price is I would guess around 2€/pcs. So, this eBay price is indeed very nice!

Today I saw the lowest price on alcalines ever, 1€/4pcs, about 1,45$ for 4. Regular price for good alkies is about 2+€ -> 4€ /4pcs.

If I compare these OEM-Energizers to regular priced alcalines, I would say there´s pretty much no point AT ALL to use a single alcaline any more for these prices.

Hope the people who receive them, can test them, and see how "good" they are.

I tested the original Energizer with MAHA to get reference.

When discharged at 100ma, I got 3062mah from it with ending voltage after a while 1,350V.

After this, I got usable light on SC51 and Low2 mode for 2 hours. Then voltage was some 0,6V.

will post when I get OEM´s. It will take some weeks, I guess.

OEM´s arrived.

Initial voltages:

1,819V

1,775V -> discharge test @ 100ma

1,781V

1,882V

So, I´m now doing discharge on the worst one to see, what I can get out of it.

Quite a bit variance in there...

15min discharge behind and cell is already at 1,34V. Original took half-a-day to get there so it´s not looking very promising.

1,815

1,816

1,811

1,812 Were the readings from a pack of original Energizers.

From what I can tell from + and - ends, positive end looks just like in Original Energizer.

On negative end, there seems to be very faint "brush" on the surface. You cannot notice this unless you try to do like a reflection with them. OEM´s negative end is more matte in finish.

Will post more soon.

Propably will also order more soon, to test or use as a budget batts :)

Thanks for the info,

will be waiting for the results..

I bought several of these from different sellers from ebay and tested one, it seems to be genuine as it did more than doubled the runtime of eneloops in my D10.

D10 R2 on High
Regular Alkaline: 25mins
Eneloop: 40mins
Energizer Lithium AA: 90mins

Well, at this point I would say at least that these are Lithium based for sure, low price, probably high performance batts. Might have more variance in specs than originals but what the heck, for this price? :)

I might try a really short duration short-circuit test with these and genuine Energizers, to see, if there´s any difference in initial amp draw.

Got out 2959mah @100ma current.

Ending voltage after resting a while: 1,399V

Now running it dry wit SC51 and L2 (did enable all modes except H1 was ~H2 in brightness).

So, only around 3% less capacity in my opinion is bearable. This could very well be within measuring accuracy after all...

Get them! :D

Ordered 10 more AA (delivery later) and 4 AAA.

Will do a discharge test on AAA when they arrive.

Sounds promising.. will have to order a few myself!

That's great news!

Can you do the test with 1000mA discharge rate?

According to Energizer's specs sheets that's where the lithium primaries really show an advantage over the alkalines (should be the same 3000mAh, but alkalines drop from ~2800@25mA to ~1000@1000mA for AA).

I think I'll order some more AAs and AAAs now... :)

Good idea!

I will myself be using them probably for backup or in low draw electronic, so I didn´t think of high-draw...

Will test immediately.

Luckily, MAHA can do it, 1000ma is the maximum current it will use to discharge.

Just bought 8 x AA and 8 x AAA from this seller who has shipped them about 12 hours after I paid. Will do a runtime test to compare with a various assortment of AA batteries I have. Unable to do a test of the AAA's as I don't own a AAA flashlight!

shinee2010 will not send to germany (or GB) Does anyone know, why? I've seen that sometimes on Ebay.

Discharge at 1000ma, result: 2880mah!

Fantastic!

So these batteries seem to perform very close to the Energizer Ultimates at 1/5th price (at least 1/5th Israel price).

Maybe they really are "OEM packaged"? Or just very good knockoffs.

Thanks for the tests, CheapThrills!

Oakhorn - I believe this has something to do with customs. Maybe a lot of confiscations due to not having a CE mark or something like that.

You can ask the seller, maybe he'll agree to send you these batteries "at your own risk"...

just bought a pack of 4xAAA!! exchange rate to Yen, only 313 yen... great price..

Got 8x AA & 4x AAA.

All had good steady voltages, as the set above.

Doing now a discharge for one AAA OEM Energizer @ 100mA.

Got already well over 1100mAh and counting...

Reporting may come tomorrow, or today depending on how long it will still take... :p
