Looking for compact 1-26650 thrower

Hi All,

I’ve been searching for a compact 1-26650 single emitter thrower, or at least, something with decent flow. The UF MCU-C88 and Cyclone C88 seemed like good contenders, but do not seem to be available. I have a Fandy HD2010, which is pretty nice, but the head size (~ 63mm/2.5” is a bit larger than I like). The Shadow JM26 and Convoy L2 also have heads that are a bit bigger than I would like. I realize that head size/shape is an important part of determining throw, but there must be something out there with decent throw that is a bit smaller than 63mm in head diameter. How about the PALight HD900? Or the Unique Fire UF-2170?

Thanks!
Dave

I Have a 4Sevens Maelstrom X10 for sale. It’s the most compact 26650 thrower out there.
$90.00

Review…!

cheap,moddable 26650
decent throw but not a laser.
approx 1.5” dia reflector but deep

If you really want a thrower, (meaning a tight beam that goes a loooong ways), then it won't be compact. The HD2010 is a fair thrower, but you will find, the larger the reflector's diameter, the tighter the spot, (as a general rule). That's why all of the true throwers have big reflectors. Compact means more flood, less throw, (as a general rule).

+1 on that. Listen to OL he knows what he’s talking about.
And dedome the led helps a lot also.

Why 26650?

I have a bunch of lights - mainly Sure Fire 6P clones with 18650s. Also have Fandy HD2010 and and STL-V6 which are (I think) decent throwers, but a bit large to stick in my pocket. Also have a Black Shadow Darth, which is a good combination of output and size, but just a bit large and HEAVY. I do Search & Rescue and want a compact light with good output, decent run time, and not too large. The 26650 tube diameter fits my hand just about perfectly and a single 26650, while not as good as 2-18650s in capacity, is much shorter and more “carryable.” Ideally something with a ~ 46mm head, decent throw, but some spill as well.

how about a XinTD X3? Will out throw a C8 just but about as compact as you are likely to get. Will run on 3xAA too. Int'l Outdoor even offer a nice choice of tints and mode options.

Left field option is a 26650 zoomy. I've got an Aleto got off eBay for $9. It looks like a giant SK68. I've modded it with a NW XP-G2 and a 3amp Qlite driver. It throws really well, easily matches or exceeds a C8 with the same led & driver.

Thanks! The XinTD X3 looks very much like what I am looking for!

Dave

capacity and the option to use 18650 also.
nice shorter than a 2c form factor.

+1 on the XinTD X3.
I carry mine everyday.

I have the XinTD x3 also. It slightly heavy for its size but any 26650 will be. It is an EXCELLENT choice. Bought mine from intl outdoor. Highly recomend. Good options, fast delivery, quality product. IMHO.

Edit: comes with a decent 18650 adaptor that actually fits too. (Doesn't rattle at all)

What about the GB GB (Gear Best Group Buy)? I have the Paisen version and it throws reasonably well for it's size. Worth a try for $10?

For a C8 size head with deep reflector (34mm) with a 26650, I like the SupFire L6. Pretty good quality, nice size/weight feel. Retailer thread here: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/25525, my review here: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/26046.

The throw is similar to common C8's - I measured 20 kcd stock, but that was with the XML emitter - now it's available with an XM-L2 emitter. Stock, it's lightly driven at about 2.3A, and 44.5 mm head diameter.

Just tested my stock Paisen: 1.9A tail, 12 kcd (40.7 mm head diameter).

I have a modded UF-2200, it's a beauty - 43mm head diam, throw: 36 kcd, XM-L2 U2 1A on copper, Nanjg custom driver - 4.25A tail.

I got a XinTD X3 too, modded, it's real high qual, solid, but it's pretty hefty because of all that extra aluminum. It's a mini HD2010, but with class. Don't like the setup for 26650's though - wasn't designed for them, so handle is wider than need be, and doesn't take longer cells, but does work out ok for unprotected 26650's.

Hey, Dave.

Get this: http://www.banggood.com/XINTD-X3-CREE-XM-L2-3-Or-5Modes-2Groups-1000lm-LED-Flashlight-18650-p-909667.html

You can select your emitter tint (U2 1A will be brightest). Excellent build quality. Bright as sin (over 1,000 lumens). Copper-based. Has useful mode groups. Feels stout in the hand. Excellent contact points. A bit weighty, but fits in a pocket fairly well. Is much smaller than your HD2010, but throws almost comparably. Can run on 3xAA, 26650, or 18650 (comes with spacer). It’s a fine light by all rights and privileges.

Which 26650 cells will fit in the XinTD 3X? Any protecteds that will fit? Looks like the battery compartment will only hold cells ~< 67mm (so Trustfire Flames 500 MaH are out).

Thanks!

I tend to use IMR's. Not had a problem with them.

The 26650 spacer is just a slim ring, like an o-ring, that you slip over it to keep it from being loose. I’m using a Panasonic 3400 with the larger white spacer, but for a really good 26650, I swear by this one…

It’s currently doing time in my Yezl Y3, but gives great performance and capacity.
