My UF-H2b from DinoDirect has arrived!

Please wait patiently, the time to different countries is different. Please do now worry.

Pantaloonie, please allow me to post my thoughts on the UF-H2b, so we'll avoid creating "extra" threads for a similar reason...

I now that a lot of us, hanging here at BLF, have made a list of “TRUSTED” sellers (from CN and HK) in their minds and DinoDirect was NOT in them, until now anyway!!!

In my case, UF-H2b was ordered (and paid) on July 20th, was ready to ship on 22nd and got a tracking Nr on 25th – parcel left HK (as tracked) at 26th and arrived to me on August 2nd! That’s above average, for Asian sellers!

Although I now own only 3 lights (HDS, Armytek, 4Sevens), at least 30 have pasted from my hands in the last 9 months I’m involved with this hobby and I must say that the quality of this Ultrafire is above average (for a budget light, it could be on the TOP!)

This headlamp is SMALL, came well lubed, in a beautiful box (that is probably used in a few other headlights also).

Threads are well made and the beam is FLOODY – I’m not used in something like this (I like throwers) but I believe it will be handy in applications suitable for these kind of lights (headlamps).

Althought I only tested it with AA (Ultimate Lithium 1.5v), I believe it will be even better with NiMH and I intend to try it with 3.7v Li-Ions!!!

I don’t know if I will EDC this light (my HDS 170 usually covers that need) but I believe it can have a good use in a tool box or other similar jobs, requiring free hand use.

Interface is very good (press to ON, hold for intensity adjustment), button is a little “stiff” but this is probably on purpose, to avoid accidental On and OFF…

Clip is OK (could be a little larger), can be removed easily with an allen key

Magnet on tail looks strong- can easily hold the UF’s weight without a problem

For this price (close to $17), this is a TOP buy, could easily be recommended for a price close to $25, which is HALF from similar ZEBRALIGHTS…

So, conclusions:

  1. This Group Buy was a VERY successful one
  2. DinoDirect has proven (at least for a few of us) a RELIABLE seller
  3. Ultrafire UF-H2B is a FANTASTIC headlamp, especially for $17!!!

I hope you meant Please do noT worry, hehe.

haha, i am sorry for that , i do mean that.

Good to hear that you received it..

I also made a small review here: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/3168
in the Headlamp forum.

The box is definitely a nice gift!
Im using it now for flashlight parts.. (there are 2 clips inside now.. 1 from this headlamp, and 1 from my sipik clone)

I really like the headlamp.
After comparing the light with my sipik clone, I must say that I hoped it to be a bit brighter!

What do you guys think about the output? (on eneloops)

I like the UF-H2 so much,I've just ordered the UF-H1, the CR123a version, also from Dinodirect.

They don't seem to stock the H3 or H4, but if I can find them at the right price, I'll collect the whole family.

I am too disappointed in the output. It could be lot more. A Sipik clone blows this away using NiMh. I measured the respective tailcap currents: 1.1A (UF-H2b) vs 2.2A (Sipik clone)

I don't think the point of this light or headlamps in general is maximum output, esp w/ the all-flood lens on it. They're more for use when you're actually in complete darkness (you have to put the headband on, etc) in which case twice as bright just means half the runtime.

just curious how that translates into lumens for non-techies like me. 100 lumens art least? Yes/no?

thank you.... I suppose as this addiction grows I will be purchasing all those measuring devices and modification equipment and 'knowledge.' Ah forget it....

1A @ 1.2V ~= 1.2W, -20% loss = 1W, which is about 100lumen minus optics losses.

I received the UFH2 today and im really happy with the build quality of this light. I will use this for work and its more than enough brightness for me. i like the variable brightness and the small size. the coating is excellent and it came well lubed. The added magnet on the tailcap is a nice feature. The headband will get a lot of use and im sure my other lights will fit. Thanks agenthex and semur for putting this together. I am very satisfied with this purchase and will buy again from Dinodirect.

I received my UF-H2 on Aug. 2, which is pretty fast because I received the “your item has shipped” email on July 22. It came in the nice Ultrafire box (same box as UF-H4, which I also own).

As others have said, the UF-H2B looks very well made. Fit and finish are excellent.

As I expected, the output doesn’t compare to the output of the UF-H4. The H4 uses a reflector, so it has a spot and spill. The H2 is pure flood. Even when held at different distances from a wall so that their beams illuminate areas of the same size, the H4 is far brighter. That’s because the H4 uses an XP-G, and a CR123/16340 battery, while the H2 uses an XR-E, and an AA battery (haven’t tried a 14500 yet).

Both the H2 and H4 suffer from the same ramping problem: the output ramps down, then reverses direction and begins ramping up, with no pause at the minimum point. It takes many tries, or luck, to set these lights to a level close to their minimums. The H4 is difficult to set to a level that’s low enough for reading in bed without disturbing your bed-mate. I typically try about 5 times before getting it close enough. The H2 though, is much easier to set to such a level. It’s still just as difficult to get it to its own minimum, but because the output is so much lower than the H4’s, you can be quite far away from the minimum and still have an output level that won’t wake a bed-mate.

I bought the H4 for using as a skunk-finder and poo-picker-upper light when I take the dogs out to the yard at night. It excels at that task. The H2 is not suitable for this task—not enough output. But the H2 is probably very good as a campsite light, because of the flood beam and low output. Probably very good as a reading light too, because of the low output, and also the beam is so wide and smooth even at close distances, that you don’t have to “paint” the beam around the book’s pages.

My purchasing experience with Dino Direct was problem-free and pleasant. I would order from them again.

I don’t know what I’ll use the H2 for, but for $16-17, it’s a great deal. Thank you very much Agenthex and Semur/Summer.

Just received mine today, came in a box too. I Think it's a very good AA flashlight for headband.

Thanks a lot.

I received my UF-H2B. I am pleased to say that my first Dinodirect group order experience went smoothly, and I am very pleased. I had been considering getting a light like this for the past year, and was so excited to learn that a big special group buy was set up for BLF.

It was really great that Semur had tracked shipping added for free. I was able to know the day that it would arrive at my door and I needed to be home to sign for it.

The light is very good quality, and is thoughtfully designed. It is simply the best light I own. There are so many cool aspects of this light. It is better than I had even envisioned. I LOVE IT!!

I'm working on making a more detailed review, which I will post soon.

What an awesome deal for this group buy. Thank you very much Agenthex and Semur for doing this for us.

Just so everyone knows: if you are hoping to get the $10 gift card from DD for posting a review of this light, they say you have to create a separate thread in the forum. I don't think it would be very nice if 20 or 100 of us created new threads, all saying essentially the same thing, all containing similar pictures, etc., so I declined to create a new thread, and I'll give up the $10.

I was considering removing my mini-review above too, but I'll leave it there because it's all true and maybe no-one else will post a comparison with the UF-H4, which might be helpful to some.

This was my 1st buying experience of a light from wherever (Hong Kong)? I purchased (2) of them, one to be a gift. I ordered 'right away' on the 20th. Got a notice it shipped on the 30th!!! Ten days for what? I got my lights today, after many others in surrounding areas nearby. 15 days, not bad I guess. I received NO BOXES for my lights! Seems everyone else did. Included was a red lanyard thingy that a young person might hang from a rearview mirror. Also, a $5 off $50 purchase gift card. No instruction manual. Guess we are supposed to know how it works? I like the light. It's tiny, but a quality light. Good threads. Very disappointed in that on both lights, it is OSO instead of SOS! Someone else wrote about that on his. Is there a fix here for this? Once again I am happy for the most part with this light, BUT the overall experience I have to rate as not good (10 days to process, no gift box for all, wrong program for SOS). Any input here? I would not be a buyer again. I will PM someone at Dino with this and see how they reply and perhaps repost after that. Onward and upward.

patrick

I also received my UF-H2B today, it came with the box. very nice little light to use around the house.

Overall I'm happy both with the light and the shipping time

i like it, its got some great points to it. rather than do a full review here

i will says its nice , this is defiantly useful as a constant use light, camping , storm outage , visibility walking.

low on this gives just enough light in total dark

only complaint is price - its very price even with the discount but has a $4 led in it and nice finish- i got 3 smallsun 2aa for 10.50 delivered ( generic led ) its brighter than than 2AA running one AA , all flood

frankly i want a few dozen to sell and give away this is a great light for most people. lightweight and good close range (lighting 15ft of ground ahead )

I don't know why we need 4 threads about the same light. It supposed to be a good light. If every time we got a light from MF /DX/ KD or CNQG we posted a review it would be ridiculous. Its one deal that went well and one deal that didn't (free light promo).

My pair arrived this morning (Sat. Aug. 6).

I thought I'd be contrary (wow, what a rebel!) and try to fit the light into the headlamp strap without removing the clip. It worked fine. Took perhaps 20 seconds. The headlight is comfortable & the light is still adjustable (up & down) by rotating it a bit. Works great. Leave the clip alone!

I'll start testing the second claim, which is that 'the electronic switch will drain a battery in a month or so'. This might be true. It might not. It's time for someone to stick a freshly charged Imedion in there and see what happens. (Unless it's already been tried...).

Otherwise, let's see: No box, some weird red tassle-thing included, and a $5 off coupon for my next purchase. Items in good shape, with marginal (but apparently adequate) packaging. Good price, good vendor, all in all.
