We can’t compare the 2 chargers since the Opus is an analyzing charger/discharger, including facility for Nimh, while the other one (VP2) is a pure Li-ion charger only, (full list of functions not yet known) for the ‘VP4’.
HKJ, I don’t think I’ve ever said this before, but I’ve come to greatly appreciate what you do over my past year on BLF: reviews, discussions, and otherwise. Thank you for yet another excellent post!
Yes, but it is also fairly expensive and and requires a little knowledge from the user (You must select the correct voltage and current).
The VC2 is also a fairly interesting charge because it has capacity display, but except for that it is fairly limited in functions (Review in about 2 weeks).
HKJ at the price point the VP2 is selling, would you say it is currently the best lion charger at this price point or there are other xtar (vc2, mc0 etc) that perform equally well and priced lower? Thanks.
I see HKJ. Very complete explanation. I see it as this
1A charge current (Nice for fast charge)
Not all chargers can do 0.25A charge current (good for low cell capacities)
Very few chargers has a precise voltage display (nice add on too)
The nitecore d2 also seems good with the information you gave….
Thanks so much. Nitecore priced at 1/3 that of the VP2. So have to decide about features vs price!
Mountain king, I was in your boat this last week looking for my first good charger. I wanted one that could charge pretty much any battery I could want. I was looking at the Nitecore D4, but ended up going with the VP2 because it has the 3 voltage levels, and it’ll actually fit the longer protected batteries without damaging them. The D4 would not have fit them. The D4 can charge NiMH, but I already have a nice charger for those anyways
