My entry to the scratch built contest.

Ainā€™t nothing wrong with a PVC build. I know there are a few fans of it here. Me being one. Check out my holy hot spot Batman thread for proof.

Looks like this will be the most advance build FW wise, which is where the real future of lighting resides. Keep up the good work.

thanks, just checked my pwm freq with a ā€™scope. and its around 4khzā€¦ is that good? I can prolly go up to maybe 10khz, possilbly

Me too! Looking like this will be interesting.

thanks for watching

Sorry, Iā€™m not a good judge of PWM. Traditional SRKā€™s donā€™t even bother me. I only avoid it when working under the hood or with other dangerous moving machinery. 4K sounds good to me though.

well I don tthink someone (me) will use this under the hood or under a car  well I could but its kinda overkill for that use
anyway. maybe tonight or tomorrow Iā€™ll get everything wired together and post some short videos of it actually doing something before I get some pvc parts to try and package it up

two videos of the guts workingā€¦ now to build a case

I'm up to wiring as well. When do you think you can come around?

what help you wire yours up? nawā€¦ I gotta build my case yetā€¦

I spend most of my time on the host and as little as possible on the driver which is silly given the driver is the heart. Nice to see it being done the other way around.

I think I spent maybe 10 mins total on the code. more time was spent attaching wires to things and connecting the wires together  my code is simpleā€¦ about 10 lines longā€¦
unless I decide to put modes and or a indicator/display of some sort on it.

A lot more in there than just code but even your minutes spent are more than I do.

thanks I think :>

anywayā€¦ tomorrow I hope to get some of the parts to start making the caseā€¦ and a power switch

Bump for update in first post, new photos will be posted shortly

Those couple of leds are really pumping out the light. Have you had extended runs yet? I was just wondering how well the heat sinks work.

not together noā€¦ but the cool white heatsink does get warmā€¦ not hot but warm, the driverā€¦ very warm almost hotā€¦ so there will be ventilation, will mount a fan to each ā€œcannonā€ Iā€™m pondering calling it a light faucetā€¦ and maybe getting a waterfaucet handle for the pot

when pwmā€™d the drivers and heatsinks dont get warm reallyā€¦ under say 80% fullā€¦

Iā€™ve got a handle mounted, mounting main power switch shortlyā€¦ then I have to drill vent holes for the led heatsinksā€¦ then figure out how Iā€™m gonna mount the fans and cut vents for those
then I can cut holes for the wires that have to go between each podā€¦ then attach the pods together and start wiring things together, taking lots of photos as I goā€¦

bump for photos of case postedā€¦

Holy smokes! 8) Itā€™s handheld, I can see the handle

yup  barely

More photos added to case postā€¦ worked on it a bit more before work this afternoon  nearly ready for connecting stuff inside and seeing how it looks onā€¦

yay  I should be finished in a few more daysā€¦ unless I find Iā€™m missing something else! YAY.
