[Feeler Thread] Copper direct-connected 20mm triples and quad universal MCPCB boards

2all, finally got it!

Please PM me if you need some )

First build with copper (silvered) quad

Wow! I've never seen this kind of P60 heatsink, even from your previous builts over at Fonarevka and CPF, Dsche.

Wanna see more of it.

MustSimon, yes, it’s new )

I’ve announce this new system a few days ago on CPF and on Fonarevka too – welcome to discuss!

That is a work of art. Please show us more of this total build. Then sell them to us!

Very interested in trying out some of your work. PM sent from the other side.

(That’s how interested I am, your adapter dragged me in where I haven’t been in weeks)

I would definitely be interested if you made a triple XM-L2 board in 20mm. These look nice but I already have triple XP-G Noctigons. I might entertain getting a few quads boards from you.

JohnnyMac, actually we don’t need XM-* more because of new CREE XP-L

How about 4 of those in your quad? Very interesting indeed…

someone here tied them and said they do not play very nice with the normal XP-(E/G) optics.

The issue is when still domed.

Ah. I missed that.

I assume you were referring to this thread by welight: Cree XPL. In the OP welight mentions that the XP-L just won’t fit under the Carclo and Ledil XP- optics. Dedome it and the problem goes away, but at that point there’s not much special about the XP-L other than the fact that it fits on a triple XP Noctigon.

Macro (600px/inch)

In my last PM to you, for some reason I was thinking these were for XM-L's. With the recent announcement and availability of XP-L's, I'm really glad I was wrong.

What's amazing is that even with inefficient high CRI Q2 bin XP-G2's and Richard's FET driver, this thing should put out 1400 emitter lumens.

Hi,

leaftye suggested I post my question re. the 4 emitter board here: If I want to use the 4 emitters as 4P (all 4 emitters in parallel), how to wire this board such that there are just the normal +/- emitter leads to the board?

The diagrams I’ve seen show 3 leads to the board, including one directly from the battery + to one of the pads on the board, plus 2 others.

Thanks,
Jim

Hope this pics must help )

Hi,

I just figured out why the pics aren’t showing for me. I have Malwarebytes Pro installed, and it’s flagging lumenaddict.com so it blocks all of your pics :(…

EDIT: If those images are the same as the ones on IS’ website, then I still am not sure about the 4P configuration as I’ve seen the images on IS’ website.

Just replace the second red wire with a jumper between the two crescent shaped pads.

This is cool, and stuff. I’ve never considered doing a custom light from scratch before but I like this thread!

What hosts and drivers are you guys considering using with these boards?
