the other day one of the solder connections popped off (bad solder connection), while i was in there i shorted out a few of the emitters (whoops)
Anyway, time to upgrade the emitters
heard a lot about the noctigons and sinkpads. I want to go as bright as I can, this is nothing more than a ‘show off’ light, totally impractical for just about any carry situation, but it is so much fun to give to friends and let them click it on and watch their expression.
I have to replace the emitters, what should I do to get maximum output of this light.
There has been quite a lot of testing with that 7led KD driver. I believe that is the same one Tom has in a J18. It doesn’t handle xml2 x7 well, but does well with XML x7 or xml2 x6.
I would probably get 7 noctigon mounted XML (reflow the good xml’s you have to noctigon) to replace the stock aluminum boards.
If you talk with RMM over at MTN Electronics he might be able to provide noctigon mounted xml’s, definitely has the bare noctigon boards.
The tint issue hmm… I would assume the stock x100 is cool white. It should blend to the point where 3 cool white emitters mixed with 4 slightly different cool white emitters would be very tough to discern from each other unless at point blank, based on what I’ve seen of other BLF member’s experiments with tint mixing.
