What kind of distances are we seeing between the top of a driver board and the bottom of the LED shelf?
I’ve got a P60 in front of me. It’s 5.0-5.2mm. Is at least that much vertical space available in most 17mm driver cavities?
I believe you can pound in some of those 17mm to 17mm rings in and build an extension if you need more room
But remember, that can effectively reduce the length of the battery compartment. Depending on the specific light, of course.
Think about the Roche lights - they don’t enough battery-tube length. You don’t want to add extensions “below” where the driver normally sits, but everything above that is “free” for us to use without penalty.
I build my lights from the driver out. Part of the reason for me adding fins to Minimag heads is to generate more depth for the driver, heat sink, and optic than is available in Incan Minimags. Plus they look cooler than the led heads. I think the brass pill of a Convoy M1 is ~8 mm deep but it has a threaded capture ring.
