Anybody tested Trustfire X9, beamshots?

I suppose that's the problem w/ unregulated lights. Essentially arbitrary max brightness. 1.5A is not really the same as 3A, and unfortunately xp-g territory. I was quite close to buying this light when I elected to go for the STL-v6 instead for mostly that reason. I can't imagine it costs that much to put a reg driver in this w/ optional extension like the x8, it's supposed to be premium X series model.

My TrustFire X9 just arrived, can't wait for darkness.:)

Can't wait for your report............

X9 owners... how do think this light is built for modding? If I was interested in replacing the driver would it be worth the effort?

Hi,

Do you have a beamshot comparison between X9 and tk41, wanted to see a picture of the two. I wanted to get a TK41 but if I could get a 1x18650 XM-L thrower that is in the caliber of tk41 but cheaper then I would go that route.

thanks

You might find this useful, Ian.

Thanks

Does anyone know if the ebay Trustfire X9 is as bright as the KD/Manafont version in 1x18650?

Specs states that the ebay version accepts 2xCR123A and the KD up to 4.2v only.

Maybe the reason one member have problem with his ebay version is he powered the light by 2x 16340 which is above 7.2v as compared to 2 CR123A which is only 6v(3-6v driver).

I'm leaning toward to getting an ebay version as I already have batteries and charger.

Have there been any subsequent deliveries to BLF members and with what current draws?

I seem unable to cure this itch. Embarassed

Well, you have two people who tried their luck with 2 cells and now have 1-mode lights, so I would more or less expect the usual xml DD draws of ~3A+ depending on your own luck.

Actually, what you really need is for one of the lucky gentlemen above to take a pic of the driver and we can see what's going on inside.

Well.. I ordered one. I'm just curious if swapping the driver is a worthwhile project.

Why not just spend 8 bucks more for the fully regulated Fandyfire STL-V6? Same length in shorty mode on 2 x 18500, and I measured 46k (mine under-reads about 10%). Waiting for confirmation from ergotelis on his set, he has measured Olight M3X to be 59k. The Fandyfire glass cuts nearly 6% in light, but i could not find UCL lens of this 59mm size, which would cut only 1%.

Two batteries?

Exotic 18500 size?

As if life wasn't hard enough ...

+1

Well.. first of all, I already ordered so no more decisions, haha. Secondly, I'm trying to stick with one cell operation because it's for a friend. But I'm not also not really interested in incorporating 18500 cells in my life. I'd like to keep things simple with the more popular 18650. But depending on how much I like this light, I might order one for myself and see about swapping the driver. It seems like a good body for modding and it'll be more education in the area of modding. It's not so much about saving money. I like the single 18650 operation and it seems like it should have decent heat management.

18500's are optional on the STL-v6. It's actually supposed to be cloning a <=12v light, so it's 2x 650mm normally, but they provide a short removable ext. so you can use 3x 340mm w/ it.

Just get the ones from bestinone.net, only $8.80 per IMR 18500 pair shipped. Excellent batteries. Mitro, E1320, DasFriek and I have tested it to be extremely good, enough to hang around with AW. In fact if you check that your C8 tube can fit the light, you can do 2 x IMR18350s, also from BIO, which makes it a pretty short thrower, better than Solarforce MPP-1 as in same throw but 3X more lumens. I tried DBS V3 and U80 tubes, fits no problem.

Of course, this Trustfire X9 is cheap, going to throw great as well (and I like the looks), somebody needs to get some figures though.

does it miss any small gadgets there?

Man this thread made me buy one, got it from ebay for $33.48. Hopefully the 3 weeks wait will be worth it.

I didn't have patience to wait for another bid auction to arrive so I just did the "Buy it Now" for $37.99 Allegedly it has shipped already so hopefully I'm seeing it at my door in the next two weeks.

I've just won an auction on this light at US$28.51 shipped (seller "go_market"). I wanted to stay below 22.00EUR as that's the limit for hassle-free duty-free import to the EU.

Now let's see what I get. Wink

Being a bigger flashlight, Customs will probably ask for proof of purchase, but an email with the link to the listing is all that they require.
