G-Shock Mudman....clone

Hey gang…you know what time it is.

Quick review and recommendation for the Mudman G-Shock clone.

It seems that the Casio G-Shock clones haven’t been reviewed here in a couple of years. My apologies if this has already been covered in another thread. .

This Chinese likeness of the Casio G Shock Mudman 9300 is pretty solid.

I have had mine and been wearing it daily for a over a year now….and can’t recommend it enough. For under $9,…it’s a no brainer. You can end the review there.

I have not tested to see if it is water proof/resistant…nor any intentional real life abuse tests, serious drops or intentional hard use endurance assessments. But it just “feels” right and substantial when you hold it and wear it. The “glass” has not cracked or scratched after a year from daily use or casual drops. Of course the bezel design helps prevent this. The real thing is between $70-120, even more bullet proof I suspect, water resistant and certainly worth it…but if you are looking for a $9 beater,…here it is.

The feel, fit, finish, features, illumination, time keeping are a good deal better than cheaper G Shock clones I got off DX a couple of years ago. These were simply junk and throw-aways compared to this one.

I went with the Black and Silver trim version…just seems classic to me. Once the battery dies I will get a new one. My only possible criticism is that it seems to occassionally go into sleep mode if I have it in a dark idol place for a couple of days. It seems to be powered down or out of batteries…but then pops and lights back up quickly with all the settings saved once I get it into the light and physical motion happening. It may be an intentional battery saving design feature for all I know.

Oh, and a lot of people don’t know the Aliexpress “game” in finding these in your searches. They typically do not get listed under Casio or G Shock normally as to “some” level of respect or copyright observance. So a quick search by G Watch,…or Mudman,…GW9300 or Sport Watch brings up a whole slew of these. Same thing if you are looking for Foakley sun glasses - search O Glasses, or R Watch for Rolex clones, O Watch for Omegas…Another time, another review.

Sometimes the G-Shock is blacked out in the advertisement to keep under the Aliexpress radar,…but it there in white trim just like the original article….It seems there a few models that have S-Shock which is just silly imo. Kind of like finding the old Alfine car radios at the flea market back in the day and just plain fugly.

Here a few links to Ali stores for those interested.

You can also find them for $8 flat at cost delivered by the new stores with little or no review history so that they can get some ratings and customer feedback history under their belt.

Didn’t see a lot of YouTube reviews…I don’t speak Italian so maybe someone else can translate and tell me what his impressions are ? lol

That’s portuguese. Is the watch water resistant?

Looks nice. What ALL does this thing do, or doesn’t do? Does it come with a battery? Battery replaceable?

thanks.

The watch is advertised as water resistant…however, that is nearly meaningless.

The back has a steel backing engraved made in Thailand, Water Resist 20BAR…with a cool Mudman….Mud Resist caricature in the center.

I only have experience in rushing from house to car in the occasional rain storm…minor noodling around the koi pond, daily hand washing. So not a lot of opportunities to test its water resistance,….but I have never had any problems so far.

The family also returned from a trip to the beach this past weekend. While I didn’t wear it in the ocean,…it also did not fog up underneath the “glass” like a lot of watches I have owned over the years.

Sorry, that is about as much as I can speak to this.

Saypat,…yes, the watch does come with the battery installed. Mine has been going for a year.

It sure appears to be serviceable with a glasses repair kit…there are four standard screws holding it together in the back.

But like I said earlier,…it’s almost as cheap to get a brand new one as it is for a battery install.

Thanks for the review, I am interested in every cool stuff from china.
Which function does the smaller circle have. Are all functions like the real Casio? Does it smell?

I watched the whole video and would anyone advise to not do this, he just unpacks all other watches…very lame.

Werner,…I might need to enlist the help of some real Mudman owners for your questions.

There are a lot of features on this one that I have never taken the time or need to learn.

I think the smaller circle has to do with a graphic reading aligned with the phases of moon. I could very well be wrong on that this is a feature I don’t normally fool with or come across.

The watch did come with a proper instruction book which I have long misplaced.

I use the main features of time, day date, occasionally the stop watch, timer and alarm.

I have not properly dived into using the digital compass,…military time,…multiple city times,…phases of the moon, temperature.

In fact,…I never even really noticed or paid attn. to the battery life reading indicator below it.

For my purpose,…the two circles might as well be moving graphic art, which is cool enough.

If you can take it with you into a hot shover (I do this when my watch needs cleaning) and it does not fog up. It IS waterproof. Had several watches that has been with me on 10+ meter dives and no problem. But take them to the shover... Fog!

I have a similar watch in military olive color. Its a Skmei brand so should be better than most no-name copies.
Very good watch for the money but it is not accurate. It advance of one second every 2 days.
Also the LCD display are of average quality but that’s normal for the price.

Here the link Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com

Its a copy of the Casio Rangeman.

I like watches with anolog and digital display.
I once had a Casio with it and I loved it but I don’t wear a watch daily anymore because I have a smartphone which shows me the time…
But every time if see a nice looking Chinese watch for cheap I want to order it…
But I hate fake dials and fake funktions, I only order if I am sure that everything works.

Just ordered this watch for 12$: edit use coupon A6 for additional 5%

I almost ordered the black one too which costs just 11$…

OK, KaiserSosa, because of you I ordered this, and a couple others as well. We’ll see how it goes.

Almost every cheap chinese watches have fake buttons/dials ! Dual time watch is a very bad idea given their bad precision.

Nope only the cheap ones, there are quite some nice ones which have every hand working for a low price as well, sometimes it’s hard to investigate it but the reviews and review pictures help.
The precision of even cheap quartz watches is amazing, I have no problems with that but I prefer automatic watches.
The nicer watches with lots of hands I have are usually automatic watches so I have to adjust the time every time I wear them anyway….
This is one of my favorite PIMP watches with lots of buttons and functions, EVERYTHING works.

I have been using my gold Casio F91 for a few months now. I bought this for $8. This is a genuine Casio because the seller is an authorized dealer. It is quite small by today’s standard.

Thanks Werner, I grabbed the black one.

Forgot to use the A6 code, but I guess 50 cents won’t break the bank.

I also have one of the small casios, it was my first watch and still works perfect it has no modes just plain watch and it is super slim. Just the band has long gone.
Be beware that those watches are one ridiculous indicator for terrorism, I wouldn’t like to wear one of those on a flight in the USA…

Glad that anyone else likes it too. I first had both the black and the white in the cart but I thought two would be a bit greedy and I like the nonstandard white dials so I went with it.
I often find the coupons after purchasing too.

Just got an gear best email with a Casio lookalike watch in it for 8.44$:

I got the Tmart watch last week and I wear it since then.

A nice big watch, you would think it was expensive if you have it in hands…
Everything works, left upper button is illumination, left down button is go through modes, upper right is to show date/adjust time, down right is to show alarm time/adjust time. And the crown is for adjusting the second analog time. A standard user interface like on most digital watches.
Now I have a good looking clock with all benefits of digital watches(calendar/stopwatch/alarm/illumination).

I haven’t tested water resistance I only washed it when new and some times when washing hands and wrists. But I guess I will put it in the ultrasonic cleaner in a month when the wristband became dirty or so…so we will see

Yes, I have my black one on my wrist now.
