is the sanrenmu 913p as good as people say?

I read it has a great quality, more than other budget knives, but never like me. Military? Tactical? With a sheepfoot blade??
Some people say it is a spyerco tenacious with other blade.
Somebody have try/tested it?
(I saw all youtube videos yet)

It’s a knife that I always seem to have on my “wanted” list but never get around to buying same as the 939 I like them but there’s always one I like more, these larger SanRenMu’s look like getting harder to find so if you want one I’d get them now.

The handle is def Benchmade Vex inspired.
Blade kinda like a Spyderco Stretch crossed with a sheepsfoot blade.
I like the look BUT I’ve never been a fan of black coated blades,
which soon get scratched and end up looking shabby.

Yes, the handles are the same:

But why sanrenmu sell it like a “military/tactical”? Only for beeing black coated?. It can not pierce nothing due to its sheepfoot blade. Perhaps like a recue knife or boat knife but tactical?. And i think it is the only medium size from sanrenmu because it can not stab/pierce else it would not exist. We never will see a dangerous medium size blade (8.5 cm) from sanrenmu. But sell it with name of “heavy duty military tactical knife” is a bit a joke. The srm 939 with a frame lock thicker was for slicing food, and now this is a tactical knife…

Nobody has test it?

Looks good but I’m more interested in the plain version if available.

The 939 is very hard to find it but the 913p is very easy, exeuct have a lot of it and fasttech, and it is not very popular, only 1 review in fasttech. It is clear that people do not like very much this model, the only from srm with a medium/large size and with a price lower than ganzo/navy/enlan models but…, it is clear people do not buy it much.

I think only two shops have it from Germany and for a very high price.

I heard this about the plain version: I should be a version for the German importer (one of the two shops). He opened the market for Sanrenmu knives a few years ago and most German stores buy the knives from him.
This would also be an explanation, why you found i t only in Germany.
About the black version: I have it and like it and the price is a steal. Usually I prefer non coated blades (you are right, when it got some scratches it doesn't look nice and this is the reason, why I love stonewashed blades - small scratches are invisible) but the quality and price is great,
Of course the tactical words are only marketing. I think most blades, which are coated and serrated are tactical in the Asian knife jargon ;)

And… What about sanrenmu 913p vs sanrenmu lb763? Wich do you prefer?

I have the black coated SanRenMu B4735 and rubbed the coating with wet/dry in 600 to 1000 grit, it ended up looking worn but in a stonewashed way sort of like the blackwash finish that is on the Medford clone.
Unfortunately I’ve put it n a safe place, so safe I’ve forgotten where it is. I’ll try to find it and post some pics.
When your black coated knives start to look scuffed scuff them up some more.

Not a fair comparison because I’ve not got a 913p but I think the lb763 has one of the best Axis locks to come out of China.
As a bonus it’s got a sneaky bottle opener as well!

I don't see how you can compare the two. The 913 is HUGE...763 is small.

I have both. 763 you forget you have it on ya..913 is much heavier.

You can do a heck of a lot more work with the 913 because of its size.

763 rides as backup since it's so light.

Yes i know it has a very good axis lock. I always get bigger knives than the 763, for that i have not it. Small knives only i have the 710, 733 and 605.

The 913 HUGE? no, it is not. It is like an ganzo g704 and smaller (a lot) of an enlan el01. IMO the size of srm 913 is medium/big. Small for being big and big for being small… 8.3-8.5 cm long blade. And the 763 is even smaller than the srm 710. It can be they are not comparables, but my question about what do you prefer was in the way that wich like you more only, in general.

And thanks for all responses to everybody!.

I own too many Cold Steel knives.

It gives me a warped view of knife size, anything under four inches is a small knife.

Well, cold steel makes bigger knives than the rest of the world (espada xxl, rajah II, vaquero,…).

For me:

Small: less than 8.5cm long blade
Medium/Big: 8.5 - 10 cm long blade
Big+ : more than 10 cm

But in my country is illegal folder knives with more than 11 cm long blade.

In survival fixed knives for me

medium = 12 - 15 cm blade.
big = 17 - 20 cm blade
big+ = about 25 cm blade.

(yes, i know there are holes between 15 and 17 and so…)

Xatu, I meant the 913 is huge when side by side with the 763. At least I think it is that way.

ETA: OK so maybe huge was wrong word....how about mUcH LaRgEr? And HeAvIeR? 913>>144 grams 763>>64 grams

Yes, bigger and heavier than srm 763 yes, but not HUGE for itself
I think i’m going to buy one of two. I like big blades much better, but i don’t like the sheepfoot point and the serrated section but like the better steel (8cr14mov), the handle of the benchmade vex and the fat liner lock. And the 763 is good and i haven’t in my collection (it’s a classic) but it’s tiny, i like the axis lock and the blade shape. If it was the real steel version of 763 with 8.5 cm long blade it would be more comparables…

This is hard (I have both - 913P, SRM763 with black G10 and aluminum handle). The 763 is a great one, if you need a light knife, but really small (ok for opening jobs or cutting a robe perfekt, but for bigger jobs). If you want something, which is more comfortable, if you cut the vegatable for 5 persons, your steak the 913 would be better.

Both aren't expensive, but if you think ybout the buck: The P913 is the better deal. The SRM763 is a little bit to expensive for a small SRM.

I haven't a picture of the 763, the RealSteel and the 913, only this at the moment: 763, RealSteel and Enlan EL02B
