Where to buy replacement laptop battery packs??

My Asus notebook has had a messed up battery for a while now. It won’t stay on for more than 15 minutes without the charger being plugged in. So essentially I have a very lightweight desktop :~

After seeing everyone doing laptop battery pulls, and my need for an emergency battery backup for my phone, I figure I could kill two birds with one stone. (buy a replacement battery pack for the laptop and then use the old batteries in a battery power station)

Where is the best (and cheapest) site to buy off of? Some places quote as much as $80+ while others are $20 (which seems too good to be true.) Any suggestions would be appreciated.

$20 is possible if they're older or the person doesn't know what they're selling. I'd stick with OEM battery packs. Not so much because of the quality of the cells, but because the pcb in the battery pack can be better trusted to balance and protect the cells. If you have time to wait for the right pack and deal to come along, ebay is probably the place to go. You can try some of the bigger computer forums too, but those can be difficult since they don't have the optimize search results that ebay has.

Here is one for $30 that I was considering.

I was just curious if people have a “preferred” retailer.

“OEM” is used for any junk. OEM doesn’t mean anything anymore.
Do you mean an orginal Asus branded replacement pack?

Oh, so you mean an OEM pack? OEM isn't a brand name. It's a descriptor. If you don't understand how it's supposed to be used, you'll get ripped off. OEM means it's made by the original manufacturer, in this case it would be Asus.

OEM does not mean Asus branded. It is suppose to mean manufactured by the same company as the original asus part. Asus (as well as most other companies) don’t actually manufacture the laptops that bear their name.
List of laptop brands and manufacturers

Asus is made by Pegatron and Foxconn.
Apple iphone, ipad etc made by Foxconn.

So a battery for an Asus laptop labeled “OEM” is suppose to mean its made by Pegatron or Foxconn. In reality every junk company sticks “OEM” on their stuff.

You would not call an Asus (or dell, apple, sony) item OEM.

If you can get your hands on some clevo or toughbook batteries, you could get some quality cells.

Regardless of the OEM discussion, I just want a reputable dealer to go through that’s all. Besides, an OEM sticker can be slapped on anything. I always love the “OEM fit”. Meaning it will fit into whatever you’re putting it in, but it’s not OEM (happens a ton in automotive parts)

Downlinx - do you have a link to those that you’re talking about?

No link, I just happened upon them when I was at a computer shop and asked to see there salvaged batteries.
