Review: Eagle Eye X6 (1x XM-L2, 1x 18650)

I agree with DBC’s. Strobe and SOS is never used. I would have bought this if it didn’t have SOS. That’s the only thing I hate about it!

the manufacturer said 3 mode and 3A driver is OK, and the current of each mode can be made as us request, so what's the best current,

Neil, can you ask them for 4 modes with moonlight modes too? moonlight-low-mid-high. I guess I’m happy enough with 3A driver or even 3 modes without that strobe.
Edit : exactly as DBCstm mentioned earlier “A very low moon in the 2% range, then 15, 30 and 100% would be very nice. If it’d came that way I wouldn’t have changed a thing.

OK

I'll ask him.

Nice review! Im looking for something in the $20-25 range however the beam looks
too similar to my c8 to justify

Is anybody else impressed by this? What other product/manufacturer/retailer fields feedback from customers and makes direct changes? That’s awesome.

I don’t really know what current is best, I hope others can bring some input into this so we get a better all-round light. I’d buy it when the changes are made.

Thanks unknown for the additional info.

@ Banggood

This driver would be a great place to start for most of your flashlights.

The 4th star mode layout is very well spaced.

4th Star : 5mA - 2% - 25% - 100%

Great review. Thank you :-)

Thanks Neil. We LOVE manufacturers that listen!

When the needs of the end user are worked into the product, it’s a win win for everybody.

I’m a flashaholic. I like modifying lights. But if someone gets it right, then it’s just a sweet bonus to have one in stock form that’s rock solid dependable. Huge selling point.

And for a light this size to be so comparable to a C8, well… I say Job Well Done!

I’ll also be in for one or two in a group buy… need to replace my wife’s EDC and this one is ideal for that.

Edit: Thinking of it in terms of EDC, 3-3.5A would be good in a digitally regulated driver that could hold output the life of the cell. With a 3400 mAh cell run time on High could be very nice and the small size with great beam profile would be just about perfect. Is the current driver digitally regulated? Anybody know?

Looks like a lightbox project to me, will see if I can do that today.

Would be happier with a little higher current than 3A. Maybe 4A.

Also shouldn’t moon be lower than 2? It should be around 10-20mA to give a few lumens so it can be used in the night indoor? 2 of 3A will be 60mA or more than 20 lumens. That is not a moon in my book.

Thanks for the review and nice going BangGood!

How about a choice of CW and NW so that us modders will be left with a nice neutral tint after dedoming?

He’s offering 1A and 3C already.

And yeah, perhaps moon should be lower. I was remembering using 2% with a triple emitter set-up, sorry. The set-up that is on a Qlite works very well at 4A and more. Nice place to start.

Whoops, sorry I only saw the review specs.

Hi unknown00101, thanks for the great review.

What is the spill like on the beam profile? Is it a proportionately deep reflector with narrowish spill or does it put out a wide usable spill? I’d be really interested if it puts out a good spill…

Pretty usable spill, with the balance skewed towards throw. Especially de-domed, where mine is now making 60Kcd for 490M throw range estimated.

If unknown doesn’t mind, I’ll get a beamshot tonight and post it….

Thanks for the review.

Why a "moon" mode guys? What one earth would you ever use it? Too low for a nightlight or to illuminate a room, I just don't get it. Is it just cause it looks cool or something? I'm just trying to figure it out. The only time I use a flashlight is to "see something". Moonlight doesn't let me see anything. A 20% low mode might. What is 2% useful used for?

^ definitely a usable spill. You can see a hanging tree limb in the upper left hand corner of my beamshots. It’s about 5 yards away. It paints a little story about the spill, but you really have to look closely.
I took mine out last night to patrol the backyard and around the chicken coups. Searching for the coyote that tried to get a turkey the other night. The X6 makes for nice light to hold side by side a 1911.

Anyway, feel free to post your beamshot.

Can anyone measure the PWM rate on these?

This is a 60m beamshot of mine taken in my standard beamshot location.

Here’s a post with that shot vs. a few others.
