Preliminary Rating: Kaidomain

It does indeed. Wonder if it could take the stresses of use in an engine :)

To my eye it looks vaguely Indian - but this may just be because we in Britain tend think of India when (if) we think of Asia. Maybe it is generically Asian looking and it is just the vestiges of imperialism in me - after all we hung on to India as a colony for 173 years after the USA escaped. And Hong Kong sort of until 1997. In fact the majority of the dealers we buy from in Hong Kong were almost certainly educated under a British controlled system.

I just have to laugh at how quickly this thread keeps going off on a tangent! Maybe I lack natural leadership ability LOL but 3 replies after I started the thread about KD's shipping/customer service quality, we took this wild detour about Hugsby lights, and how many modes were best, and how ugly some particular light was. Then after I post an (on-topic) update, in 4 posts we range off to camshafts and the British colonial system.

I stress that this does not upset me at all, I am just marveling at how far afield we can get so quickly. I am actually amused by it.

Oh goody, they just replied:

Hi Friend,
We will send it to you within in this week, please do not worry.

I think sb56637 is on the right track...its not so much how long they actuallytake to ship, its that they raise false expectations by telling it will ship faster than they know it really will. If they said it shipped in 6 weeks and it actually shipped in a month then I would probably be happier than if they said it shipped in 3 days and it actually shipped in 3 weeks,

BTW, they didn't offfer me any mini cow LEDs to make up for the problem Cry

That's what makes this forum so awesome!

Speaking of awesome, have you ever tried this Awesome cleaner LOL!!

Yes I have!

Sorry for repeating the whole thing but i couldn't resist. Is it awesome as a cleaner?

Now short of talking about someone's medical problems we really have wandered about as far off topic as we can.

And no, I'm not going to revolt you with mine....

I find that KD has some unique items, unfortunately a lot of the Mag modding stuff they used to have they aren't getting back in stock. Their shorty spring is wonderful - it actually makes it feasible to get the tailcap back on on a Mag and certainly works fine for me.

Their D lithium cells may be ...(insert warnings about high capacity unprotected lithium cells) but try getting such things elsewhere.

They actually seem to be a bit faster, if no more communicative than they used to be - my last order arrived in about 2-3 weeks which I regard as acceptable. I have an order outstanding from 1/8 but I'm not expecting it for another 2 weeks or so. I just completely ignore whatever they say about in stock or whatever and factor that into my buying decision. I've had one order with the wrong (ordered an early XP-G R5 dropin, got an MC-E one instead and thought that life was far too short to argue about it) item arrive and have never had an order go astray though the D lithium cells mentioned above took about 4 months to arrive. They are nearing the end of their lives now and am wondering if I'll bother replacing them as the ROP bulbs are getting too expensive to acquire now and I have a brighter LED light now.

I don't really use this cleaner. I've only used it a couple of times. The toxic fumes it emits makes me really nauseated to do any further work. I probably need to take some Zofran or Reglan if I work with this stuff

As for KD, I think they are good. I recently received the Ultrafire 501B from them and their packaging is excellent. It was wrapped several times in bubble wrap, making the light perfectly safe for delivery. On the other hand, DX only wraps it in one layer of bubblewrap (not very secure either) and the light always has scratches and scuffs from the handling of the post office.

You could've fooled me. I thought with this post and your sig you were one of their Distributors. :D

Would you like to buy my bottle? It's only been used twice. Still in mint condition. Taken care of very well. No scratches/blemishes. And did I mention it's AWESOME?! Make me an offer.

LOL I don't think I've ever seen any of that stuff in stores here. I could've used it many times especially lately since I've been salvaging 18650's from old laptop batteries. Lots of very sticky stuff inside those battery packs. Frown

I find Goo Gone to be the best stuff to remove sticky stuff. It's available at the dollar stores.

I'll check on it the next time I'm out and about. Thanx.

The light I ordered from KD on the 31st has arrived. That's pretty quick for HK Post and was a nice surprise since I'm in the habit of forgetting about KD orders as they used to take approximately forever. It arrived with stamps on it so no Bulk Mail delays. The item from Lightake ordered on the same day has yet to arrive - not their fault - just the way bulk mail works.

I'd definitely give KD a higher rating than I would have last year.

And it was a Hugsby P32 that arrived. Nice surprise as I knew I'd an order in to KD but couldn't remember what it was.

I'm sorry to hear that ,I think you will received our order soon .

thanks for you understand !

please let me know when you received our order ,

thanks very much!

Got an email saying it was shipped. If I order from them again, I will have learned to ignore the "ships in 1-3 business days" nonsense and just assume it will ship in 2-3 weeks.

Got the package, roughly 2 weeks from the time they said it was shipped. The AK-16 came in a bubble wrap bag with no instructions; fortunately, there was a good thread with programming instructions posted elsewhere which I followed.

Good first impressions of the light. Everyone says the ramp-up from low to high is fast when programming so it is hard to catch it at a very low level if you want that (I do), but you do your best and just redo it a couple of times if you are not happy.

It is also reported that getting an AA in it is difficult; I would say it is a little more difficult than installing a 123 but not too bad, and certainly nice to have that option if you find yourself out somewhere with a dead 123 and don't want to spend $8 USD or so for one at a drug store.

I noticed the threads between the battery tube and the head seem large and few, in contrast with a light like a Fenix, for example. This one comes off in about 1-1/2 turns (540 degrees) while my Fenix P2D takes just over 5 full turns to remove the battery tube. The larger and fewer threads means it is harder when screwing them together for the threads to "catch" so you have to be careful to maintain pressure until you are sure the threads are seating.

That's all I have now; I will play with the light some more and I am going to a knife show in Las Vegas this weekend where there are also a lot of flashlight geeks so I will pass it around for comments.

Thanks IamMatt for the quick review! That's an interesting alternative to the K-106. I'd be interested in reading a detailed review if you feel like writing it up.

Damned nice ... Really like mine ....

Should get another before they stop making them ...

Goddamn, how did I miss this thread about the AWESOME cleaner.

For those not in the know, this product is manufactured by....wait for it... Awesome Products, Inc.

It says right on the bottle that it's so AWESOME that you must dilute it before use, but why do they sell it in a convenient spray bottle? How exactly do you dilute it if the bottle's full? Inquiring mind want to know but are held back by the lawyers/fun police.

So other awesome things it claims right on the bottle:

Removes blood

Removes liquor

Removes urine, or the holy trifecta of cleaning.

"For use in carpet cleaning machines"... um... ok

Use straight for Nichotine Buildup.

Dilute 50 to 1 for use as Car Wash. I bet Chuck Norris would use it straight up on his truck. Hell, he probably uses it for mouthwash.
