This Romisen is a big disappointment, at least for me.
Regarding the 'chunky pill', I'm really not sure if this was supposed to be a joke and my irony detector needs some adjusting or not. Because this pill is almost as 'chunky' (read: tiny and lightweight!) as that of a black cat or tank007-703. And it's not even pressed in, it just sits there. Well, there is a small ring adding a tiny bit of pressure (the ring which connects the body to the driver), but it still hasn't got enough tight contact to other metal. I'm sure running it with 1A+ wil hurt the led over time. XM-L? Forget it.
That insulator disc is supposed to be this way btw. The pill design isn't bad per se, it works flawlessly, but it totally lacks heat transfer capabilities.
It has a fwd clicky which feels totally stupid in combination with the hi-med-strobe next mode memory driver. More precise: I hate it.
I (accidently) turned mine into a 1-mode while trying to mod the (pic12*-based) driver. It's ok now but I'd prefer the R5-A3 anytime, the latter is noticably brighter, too.
Threads feel good. Ah, I almost forgot: Not threads but thread: switch and tailcap are G-L-U-E-D! :/
@VFMaddict: Maybe add Romisen RC-R5 to the thread title?
I had doubts about your Romisen fake theories before and at least this time I know it's not true. This model (and my copy) is verified genuine Romisen. I contacted Romisen before buying it off KD, they sent me photos (of the inside too) and told me it is 100% genuine.
Also forward clickies are extremely hard to find in china factories (as said by DX who tried to supply them) and wouldn't be used in a cheap fake.
I don't buy it because I don't see it on the official Romisen site. On top of that why would they copy a Trustfire and make a cheaper crappy copy of it, it doesn't make sense to me at all.
Wait so you're still thinking it's a fake even though it clearly isn't by their own words? You're rather trusting a website that says "News: NO NEWS" since 2011-1-18?
Their site lacks all newer models like RC-23, RC-U8 and RC-39 btw.
You don't have to be a web designer to post a real photo, or to take one. Actually the photos were already taken, since there are photos are of computer monitors. Funny indeed. Maybe it was cheaper this way :)
