Sky Ray STL-V2 Alternative Single 18650 Throwers

Hello guys,

I am looking to buy a thrower that throws at least equal to the STL-V2 but only in single 18650 configuration...It is even available? I don't mind direct driving the LED if the original driver does not push the LED enough for throw on single 18650. Thanks for your help!

The Trustfire X9 is pretty much the same light in 1 cell format, IIRC, although the driver in the X9 is unregulated whereas the STL-V2 is regulated.

I am bidding on a few :-) Looks like a really nice light! Thanks! Does anyone have one of these they can comment on?

Stl V3 just to add another option. says 2.8A but don't know if anyone here has one.

The reflector on the V3 is smaller so i don't think it will throw as well...

TrustFire X9 has been discussed here:

Just operate the Sky Ray or Fandy Fire STL-V6 with a Ultrafire U80 tube or Dereelight DBS tubes if you have one. I'd believe the C8 tubes can screw in too. Then you can do 2 x 18350 IMRs. The BIO generic IMR 18350s are crazy, i got like 948mAh at 1A discharge. In fact I think people will scold me, they do 3.7A in my DD SkyRay SR3800 XM-L modded to direct drive (pls do not do this) and do not get warm even after 1 minute.

I want to make flashlight from marsfire head (like STL-V2) and Ultrafire C8 tube.
They fit.
My intention is to make it direct drive, so to run it on one 18650. But 18650 is to short, there is 1,5-2cm of free space. Any simple and neat idea how to solve this?

I dont want to put magnets or something, I want some permanent, stable solution.

I don’t own a STL-V2 so I can’t tell you if the throw would be equal.
But how’s about a HD2010.
It can be driven with a single 18650, but I suggest you use a quality 26650 for more kick.

+1 on the HD2010. Is widely regarded as the best single-cell thrower at the moment. Mine rocks.

I think the two big contenders are the HD2010 or the Trustfire X9, I have the X9 and really like it, very high quality finish, good heat-sinking… my only grudge is how long it is ( 20cm ) and the driver it comes with (8x AMC7135 fixed the latter though).

I can make out where trees are at 500m with it, 300m is about the limits of usability though.

Hmm, I found this one. The price looks ok, and so does the light spot.
