Thanks for that pic! Did you piggyback the BLF driver onto that stripped contact board and leave the e-switch intact, wiring it to the BLF mcu?

Any numbers on it?

And hey, it’s not like you don’t serve up the same side dishes I do! :stuck_out_tongue:

I had a nice big ol copper pill here ready to send you when all of a sudden they were mass produced elsewhere. I was just to slow and since then I've retired from the copper business. For that matter just about retired from everything except working.

For some reason I've lost a little interest in the copper pills for several reasons being cost, the time it takes to machine, weight, especially on the larger lights is a killer as shown with the last light I built being a lot larger than the monster light but still ended up the same weight without copper and copper stars on aluminium seem to work ok for me. But my lights are just a tad different to yours.

Both of us being fans of the MTG-2 I'm hoping this reflector will tighten the beam up a bit more than the HD2010 which to me is really nice with this led which has reasonable throw with its large spill very moderately driven.

I just went looking for a breakdown and Tom E has beaten me to it. I may have to start paying him all the work he's doing around here.

I am learning to like the bigger lights these days. I saw a MAXToch that looked sweet and managed to acquire the last one they had in stock, and it’s no longer produced. It’s the SN51 that had a SST50 in it originally. It’s got a massive brass pill in it, you can feel it the instant you pick it up! I put an MT-G2 in this light and it performs very well, has good throw which is surprising. It’s a tactical style light, with the raised portion in front of the tail switch for cigar style hold. But very front heavy with that big brass pill. It’s pulling 10.36A for 3581 OTF at start, 3222 at 30 seconds. I stacked a 20mm MT-G2 Noctigon star on top of an Comex copper star (after sanding down the masking layer to solid copper) for height purposes of the big MT-G2. It’s got an Omten switch that I bypassed the spring on, so far so good. Running a pair of Efest 35A cells. With a moon at 0.138 lumens, then 46, 347, and 1715 to fill out the middle, this is a very usable light.

With the recently gifted Olight SR90 Intimidator coming into my possession, and the purchase of the Fenix TK61 last month along with 2 Courui’s, I’ve got some really big lights now! So I’m hoping to continue in this new tradition with the K50 and Yezl Y3. Don’t know yet if either will get MT-G2’s, but with 9 of those already working on my shelves it’s certainly a distinct possibility!

Thanks Steve, I didn’t even know about the Yezl til you brought it to my attention here.

See ya at Bucks…

This is my Y3 stack:

From post #117 here https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/24076:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Got the UCLp lens in today for the Y3. It looks fantastic, dark purple tint to the reflected light, perfect condition.

Results on a Powerizer cell at 4.21v

Lumens: 1,819 @start, 1,732 @30 secs and 136 kcd

I compared 2 different cells before/after Powerizer @4.21v and Efest 35A 18650 at 4.22v:

Powerizer: 4.5% increase in lumens (@30 secs), 8.8% increase in kcd

Efest 35A: 5.2% increase in lumens (@30 secs), no throw to compare

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: Please keep in mind the new KK 26700 5000 mAh cells (5300 mAh actual) that Richard carries now fit this Yezl !!

This is the operation doc I gave with the light:

Flashlight Operation

* Custom modified, custom programmed

The user interface is designed to be fast, and quick access to the 4 primary modes of lowest, highest and strobe. For any steady output modes, 1 click will turn the light OFF.

These are the modes, defined from low to high: moonlight - 5% - 40% - 100%

Summary of Operations:

· a quick click goes from a lower mode to higher mode

· a hold or long click (1/3 sec) goes from a higher mode to lower mode

· if paused in a mode (more than 1.2 secs), a quick click will turn the light OFF

· in any mode (including OFF), a long hold (3/4 sec) will turn Strobe ON

· when in Strobe, a quick click will return to the original mode

So for example:

· the light is OFF - hold for 3/4 sec - strobe, click or hold turns the light OFF

· the light is in Hi mode - hold for 3/4 sec - strobe, click to go back to Hi

· the light is in moonlight mode - hold for 3/4 sec - strobe, click to go back to moonlight

For entering strobe, the long duration next mode will briefly engage (between the 1/3 to 3/4 sec times) but I don't find it much of a distraction, as long as it returns to the original mode you were in.

Tail Switch:

The tail switch is a simply power ON/OFF switch. This switch must be ON for the light to function from the side switch. If you have the flashlight with a loaded battery in a duffle bag, suit case, or knapsack, it would be a good idea to turn the power OFF via the tail switch so it can't accidentally go on from the side switch.

Warning:

This is a high powered custom light! Never leave it on high unattended, please.

And you say I serve em up steaming hot! :stuck_out_tongue:

You didn’t de-dome it? I’d expect throw to be higher but that’s about right for domed, good balance of spill and throw?

Lucky me, two of those new cells are on the way from Richard as we speak.

Did you tie in the switch through the inside of the pcb? That one’s baffling me, doesn’t take much I know.

Oh - this is a Nanjg, not BLF board, so I went to one of the stars on the spring side. Sorry - can't see the wire in the pics. I usually buzz out the PCB mounted switch's to be sure one side is ground then where I can tap into the other side. Done a few different ones now, so it's all a fog which was which... Gotta do another Y3 soon...

At those high # lumens and moderate throw - yes, not de-domed. It's got a pretty good spill, but not as wide as a HD2010 - the HD2010's have the shallow reflector.

Have you not seen Rics sites? They are never well organised, nor completely usable. They function.

It would be odd if this one was perfectly informative.

niec mod Tom E ,what size is the led pcb ? from what size you got the KK 5000mah ?

Paid and sent PM

Thanks

Posted some details on the Y3 by using photos. New thread on it here: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/28129. You'll find a bunch of measurements on the reflector, driver, pill, etc.

I haven’t received a tracking number yet. I guess I’m not too patient considering he just got the lenses in

Did the lights go out, the ones without the additional AR lens? Just got my new pair of 26650’s, so I’m ready when it get’s here…

just wondering the same thing.

Would it be possible to include the stock lens in the package too? I wouldn't mind having it as back up in case my AR lens breaks.

You could just stack the 2 lens so no special packing is needed. No biggie if the lights are already sent though.

YEZL Y3 vs Xintd X3 vs HD2010 - which throws the best?

YEZL Y3>HD2010>Xintd X3

I did PM Ric 24 hours ago with a couple of questions. As yet I have not heard back. Hopefully we will hear from him today.

Just ordered a type”c” and AR lens, eight left.
