Your BLF Avatar

My avatar is just one I found in a general search for a bucket and thought it was fitting for the screen name. Bucket head is something a manager in one of my first jobs would call someone when they made a mistake or got caught goofing off. I thought he just named me that cause that's about the only thing he called me.

This thread inspired me to change mine, it’s my TR-S700 in moon mode.

mine is a overlaud xxxfire battery that make fire

Here: Google street view

This reminds me of a fun game: One person posts a photo of anything, anywhere in the world, and others start guessing (knowing, googling) the place. The one who got it right first can then post a new photo.

That was a great hit in some other forums, so maybe we could try it here as well. :)

I simply like (nice) female bootys!! That`s all with my avatar!

240hp motor+100hp NOS Kicker= RA 8)

You know when I was posting that picture I was hoping that I was correct and saying I took it in KC. That was nearly 15 years ago now, and I thought it also could have been St. Louis. So you helped jog my memory. I went to art school there for about a year, and this was taken during one of my random photo-taking-outings with my 35mm camera.

Thanks for the link.

You made me finally ad one. SK68 with extension and collar turned of.

Others have more mystical pictures, fun for our imagination.

Mine is pretty self explanatory. Gay Navy Vietnam veteran who got tired of the closet. Needed a flashlight in there!

mine is a custom Fusion 1911

We need to keep this thread alive… We’ve got a lot of new members, and a lot of older members have changed their avatar.

Mine is stolen from this photo, found on the web:

If you are an old timer, you recall the squirrel this image is referencing. If you are a newcomer, then it’s probably best to leave past history behind!

Well, since keltex78 decided this thread needed to be resurrected I’ll tell where I got mine from.

I made my avatar back a few years ago for some other site, I can’t remember which. (Although, seems it might’ve been facebook) I first took a picture of myself with my cheap webcam. I actually used that picture as my avatar there for a while, but the webcam was not a good one, so the pic was grainy and the lighting was bad. So, I decided to help it a little. I opened up the picture in GIMP and colored over the old pic with blocks of color. I then added the weird, oversized eyes and called it done. My wife can’t stand the avatar, says it’s “creepy”! I like it, so I use it.

Im boring i just took a pic of google to show how much i like my s1 batton copper light.

self explanatory

My avatar is a ThorFire C8s on moonlight mode. I was quite amazed how good this light is on moonlight. It was my first light ever that had moonlight and until I figure out how to flash the other drivers it will be the only one for now.

It's obvious what my avatar is... but how did I make it?

For starters, I wanted an avatar with as few colors as possible (more on that later.)

I found this image on Google Images.

I cropped out the unimportant parts, then tweaked the image with IrfanView until I had this.

I then shrunk that image and made sixty frames of animation with the following website and IrfanView.

http://ezgif.com/

Here is the end result.

Looks pretty sweet, huh?

The problem is that it's 221 kilobytes, and BLF's avatars must be under 30 kilobytes.

So I shrunk it with this website...

http://www.gifmagic.com/

...and finally got this.

And the only way to have sixty frames of animation of an 85 x 85 pixel gif is to have very few colors.

In fact the end result only has five colors.

What a cool thread! I’m glad it was resurrected since I didn’t know it existed until now. It’s fun to learn the whats and the whys about such an interesting and diverse crowd.

The why for me is just because I thought it would look cool and I wanted something original. It’s based on something my 9 year old son did. The company I work for frequently gives out little trinkets to employees and customers. I talked them into buying 200 SK-68 clones. As part of the deal I offered to install batteries and test every single one. I enlisted my son to help me and while he was doing this he decided to arrange them on the kitchen table. Seeing what he had done and after telling him how awesome it was I asked him if I could steal his idea for my avatar.

My avatar is an arrangement of SK-68s on my kitchen table meant to look like a flashlight made of flashlights and of course my forum name. I stood on a chair and took the picture from above. I guess this is my one chance to see my name in lights!
Here is a bigger image:

And here is the original my son did that inspired mine.

Will I change it?
I think I will at some point but not yet.

Never explained my current avatar. I made it especially for BLF, it is an e10 incan lamp from a bicycle in a holder, with coloured lighting around it. I like the slight ray coming out of it. I'm a fan of the good red illumination of incan bulbs and am always on the lookout for leds that can do that too.

I was given the nickname Moose 37 years ago when I started my first job by workmates. Big dopey country boy that moved to the big smoke they said I was.

Mine, is, er, a needle being threaded.
