This is a cheap battery from ebay with record breaking capacity according to its specifications. This is, of course, not correct.

The battery can deliver about 1500mAh at low load, anything about 1A load is a problem and the two cells has different capacity.

Conclusion

There batteries are not very impressive, they can drive a low power flashlight, but only about half the time a good battery can.
Also remember that these batteries are unprotected.

I will rate this as a bad cell.

This one-upmanship is getting a bit ridiculous. By December we’ll be seeing 10 000mAh 16340!

Your work is appreciated HKJ!

Great to see just how bad these sorts of cells are in comparison to the usual Panny/Sanyo/LG/Sammy cells. Thanks HKJ for another review!

Redneck slingshot ammo! Im in!

Be interesting to see what is actually in these cells considering that they actually have only 20% to 25% of the claimed capacity depending on current draw. Pretty crappy current capability too.

I did open one crappy battery, it looked fairly normal: http://lygte-info.dk/info/batteryDisassembly5000mAh%20UK.html

Those cells were probably made on the other side of the shack where they also make those fancy new ultrafire spark plugs (guaranteed to triple your fuel economy). I got a set for only $50 and now my car wont start! Darn those crafty people for scamming me again!

G’day all. A little bit of eye-balling will show the vast discrepancy between the two cells that have been denuded. One seems to have 10/11 coils of li-Ion material whilst the other has 20/21 coils. One would think this would have a large bearing on the cells “capacity”? The black SJ UltraFire weighs 41gms, whereas an up market cell is 50 odd, (Pana/Sony/LG/Samsung/etc). I would suggest the latter are better/tighter wound and therefore higher in Coulombs. Bottom line is, I call them “fake” - not “bad”.
I would like to see an adventurous member dismember an SJ. I’m too old and clumsy.

Fast as lightning. Didn’t exactly expect an answer from you. It is a very old post. Thanks for the update. I only got the SJ’s recently and was not happy with their weight to start with. So I did a discharge test as well as weighing them. Eight of them weighed .204kg in total, in their package. Considerably lighter than your listed weight 39 or 41 I’ve seen both whilst reading. And as I suspected, the SJ is lightly wound and down on coils, as I suspect all cheap cells will be. At least eBay bought into it and I got a total refund. Lesson learned. Cheers.

Today it is probably made the same way as the GTL18650 I have disassembled here: Disassembly of GTL batteries
