The hidden blinky modes are potentially useful as beacons. For that purpose it generally would be OK even if it took you a few minutes to get it into the mode you wanted… (Several of the ones in TheStar are even called beacon. :-p)
My dad said he saw a wrecker guy using his to get peoples attention at night…but I guess the HUGE truck with yellow flashy lights did a better deal than his blinky light
Truthfully if you could build a two group Nanjg style setup, one group L>M>H, 2nd group L>M>H>Blinkies but fix the daggum PWM on it…if people want other than “custom” let them flash them themselves
Maybe a “faster” blink can be programmed instead of the long wink, if someone can program it, or instead of a light interrupt, maybe a slight throttling from low to a moonlight blip so the light doesn’t drop out but for a split second dims (I guess flicker would be a better word)
I hate the long group-change-blink too but like the ability to have flashies if needed…but for “stock” drivers should be simple
I like the 2 group option, would like better PWM and a really fast mode switch blip…
Either or…I will probably just flash em out anyway
OK I ended up getting an early response from them tonight.
It’s yes on the firmware and they will be sending a sample so we can check them out. They are not Nanjg105C they are made in Taiwan but supposedly the same.
Most importantly 18sixfifty, have you anticipated the potential workload involved? 1000 drivers shipped out under the most ideal scenario of 20-25 per order is still a lot of trips to the post office, packaging, printing labels, organising. It’s a big workload and you’re not going to make any money from it. We would all appreciate it immensely because it would be a good deal but I don’t want to tire you out either.
A more realistic scenario would be that your average orders would be 10 or so. That’s a lot of work!
I actually ship from home now so it won’t be too big of a deal. I retired and this is my hobby so it keeps me busy and out of my wife’s hair. :bigsmile:
I’m more worried about actually getting enough people interested so that it’s a go. Well that and making sure that they get it right on their end.

If there is any interest in the BLF17DD that I started offering I'll pick up 50 of these. If not then... Substantially less :-(
But I do hope they can be ready made to have off time memory. I am trying to figure out how to make a "scroll one mode back" for clickie switches like Werners UI for momentary switches.... So that'd be cool if the off time memory hardware was there already :-)
I wanted to see how 12x 7135’s would fit. The spring pad I cam up with is nearly the right diameter. 7.5mm is what I got away with in this arrangement. I also got 5x 7135 on the opposite side with the MP and 4 discrete comps. No stars, but that can be solved at the MP. After all, stars are just shorted outputs. Anyone see a problem putting the 7135’s to the edge to maximize the spring OD at the base? This is one thing the 105C limits… spring deflection.
Just another update. They have agreed to do more than one set of modes. So one is going to be THE’s firmware and another set of mode selections my flashpilot.
Did you ask about adding a 1uF capacitor for supporting off-time memory?
Edit: Please don't get me wrong. I'm not forcing or pushing anyone to select TheStar. If most people want a simpler/better/less hated FW, I'm totally ok going with a single batch with that FW. [I don't have any problem flashing my own drivers with TheStar]
Retaining rings won’t work. Not too common on 17mm stuff though. I certainly can’t think of an example. You’ll almost certainly have to route traces under the large GND pad on the 7135’s if you keep the top as crowded as you mentioned. [WIP][mostly retired] 17mm DD+7135 -- linear regulated driver w/ FET turbo

Nice…the only problem…the 7135’s on the top need a clearance space, otherwise they sometimes hit the inner lip of the pill and the driver won’t seat properly
On the bottom I think it needs a ground ring

wight did an AWESOME 22mm with 6 on top and bottom but there is ALOT more acreage on the driver when you from 17mm to 22mm
He’s got a GND ring, it’s under the (GND) tabs. Is there some need for unpopulated space at the edge of the board on the bottom? I’m sure we need unpopulated area around the edge on the top.
FWIW the 22mm board has 8/8, not 6/6. Space dries up fast as you add components ;-). IIRC 6/6 can be done on 20mm, didn’t someone do that?
