Get the Convoy C8 AK47 from Banggood (8*7135)

Seriously? Meter rated 10A produced by an established brand is not able to measure 3A using included equipment?
Sick.

I bought a budget DMM and the stock leads could never measure things correctly. I soldered 22awg wires on banana plugs and using this I can measure up to 5.8A, maybe higher but don’t have light driven >6A yet. Perhaps I will upgrade it into 18awg next time.

Oh ya, I completely abandoned the stock flukes, everytime I just put my 22awg “leads” directly on the measuring points and that’s it.

I’ve seen quite a few people come to this same realization.

Just grab some 10-14 guage wire, pair of banana plugs, and make some leads. I think I spent like $5 on mine and $20 for a DMM and I get very accurate measurements. 2.6A was as close as I could get with the stock leads measuring a 2.8 driver.

I believe that is not a correct statement. Any enthusiast person with the basic knowledge in electronics know Ohm's law and can expect that long and thin leads not to display the correct current on low voltages.

You have to understand that flashlights have many weak point, springs, wires, switches, etc which all add resistance on a low voltage power source (4.15V).

Now, try to measure 3A on 110V power supply, you wont say that a meter rated at 10A is not able to measure 3A with the included equipment. So and establish brand is able to measure what it says, but not in any condition.

I’m waiting for this flashlight, but with SMO reflector. I think that will be delivered tomorrow

14 AWG silicone multi-strand wire works great for me. Very flexible, about 12" or so. I simply solder the ends I use to measure. The other ends are heavily soldered into banana plugs. Once in a while clean-up or re-solder the working ends.

Today i received my convoy c8 xm-l2 u2 1A from banggood. Just one word… wow! With protected cells (both trustfire and panasonic) is brigther than my lightmalls ultrafire c8 xm-l2. Wider hotspot due to the op reflector but also overall more lumes. I think the lightmalls c8 draws no more than 2.5A… bad driver or just bad batch. Much better value than any ultrafire c8 around.

Glad you like. And I concur. My C12 wasn’t as bright as the Convoy. My hat goes off to this meaty little budget brand.

Thank Fabio123 for the sharing. When did you order your Convoy C8? Looks like you are receiving the older version of it though.

By the way the C8 on the right is the Ultrafire? I thought the new Convoy C8 also has similar centering piece like that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ordered mine from BG on the 10th got it today and it's the new version. But mine fits protected button tops!?

That could be a game changer for me. Convoy says they wont. Must be a tight fit?

Yes a little . I have a Tenergy in it now and it works fine . I put a 3100 Keeppower and its a tight fit width but length is ok . I would like a little more room.

BG might be using a different driver hence the extra room.

i ordered an old one from FT tonight because I wanted the old style. I like the new style but not what I really wanted.

Does the new version of convoy c8 have a pill that accept 20mm star base plate? Or is it still uses 16mm pill?

Ordered this today to replace a 502b I sold to my stepson.
Thanks for the great reviews!

20mm aluminium pill

How do these compare to the XinTD offered on mtnelectronics?

If for no better reason than USA seller and faster shipping I'm waiting on the xpg2 to be back in stock, unless I break down and buy the xml2 U2 1a too to have it sooner. Pretty curious what the difference is between 3*7135 and 8*7135 (380mA drivers) means in real world application with everything else being equal.

Ordered the Design XML2 U2-1A on BG for a whopping $16 and wow, it’s impressive ! The button is a bit sensitive though so I find I’m changing modes by accident sometimes…I didn’t get the SMO version to have a “smoother” beam but I’m finding that it’s very powerful in the center with a pretty large “halo” around that center beam, is that normal ?

Now on the hunt for some better 18650s as my old “2200mAh” only clocks in at 1750mAh now according to the BT-C3100 I got at the same time.

Don’t know if it has been mentioned here, but the C8 sold by Banggood now has only 1 mode.

The mode to hide SOS and strobe is not available.

And the spring inside is replaced by some other thingy.

Thanks for the hint, I hadn’t heard of these two modes but following the instructions here Get the Convoy C8 AK47 from Banggood (8*7135) I managed to move to “Mode 1” without strobe/SOS, cool !

I still find the button a bit sensitive and it’s easy to change by accident.
