YEZL Y3 CNQUALITYGOODS Group buy. 3 Versions. See post 274 for delivery details.

^ Could it be due to the green o-ring between the bezel and lens being thinner than the original black one? On mine, it seems rather loose (not watertight) even with the bezel tightened all the way. I also wonder if the insulation disc/cover is too thick. The led seems pretty far back relative to the reflector.

I found a MT-G2 on aliexpress for 15 bucks. Might as well get one to see the difference de domed. Itā€™s 4k looks like, but 6V? Can the stock driver run this for sure. 15 is already pushing it when spent 25 on the light (got $10 off, went around the back)

Thanks

Mine too. My tracking number isnā€™t right and Ric wrote to me I will have another thracking numberā€¦. Mmmhā€¦ Iā€™m not so happy.

Ciao

Iā€™m not sure you save anything on this by the time you purchase a good MCPCBā€¦ youā€™re setup to reflow? IOS has both options pre-mounted. Buyer protection or not, Iā€™d rather order from Hank than a random low-feedback Aliexpress seller.

The stock driver should only run a mtg2 at 1.7A anyway. Judging by how well it regulates to 10w.

Edit

It just arrived USPS. It says flishlight on the package. The quality of this thing has me kind of taken back after the lights Iā€™ve bought on Amazon. Itā€™s nicely built with a quality feel to it. The knurling matches on all the tubes except for the tail and sink (less pressure). I like to knurl pyramids myself  Itā€™s hard on the equipment but it really digs into your hand when you roid rage. Other than that, if they would have shipped it out with cardboard wrapped around the head, might have been perfect. Mine came with a good banging and dented in the bezel. It would have to be right in line with the switch, so that side will be up all the time :frowning:

Other than that, the anodizing is perfect imo. Iā€™m sure it left China in perfect condition from the looks of it. Just needed a layer of cardboard to protect it. One of the O rings was broken, but no big deal there. Doesnā€™t seem those rings are the correct size anyway to keep out water. I replaced them and coated the threads with white lithium grease. I can see this being my main flashlight on the farm. The modded supernight 15-led just stomps it right now far as lumens and flood, but this light is not flood or modded yet. My wifes 5 led supernight seems more in line, and does have a better grip by design.

The ar lens came intact thankfully. Just quality work man. If you ship out here next time, use a bit of cardboard Ric. It would save some good work becoming mediocre because of the minimum wage rage that happens in shipping.

Iā€™m in a little bit different camp though, after recently getting lights such as the Eagle Eye X6, Courui and SUPBeam K50, this one seems loosely fitted and more cheap. The extra tube was in a bubble bag (flat of course) wrapped next to the light which was in double bubble bags (also all flat) That said, the light is in surprisingly good shape.

Threads look good, but dry. The thin green o-ring between the head and bezel is almost pinched in two, but is actually still intact. And yes, the o-rings seems to be the wrong size in the tube, allowing looseness and almost assuredly would leak. The pill screws in firmly to the head though, that o-ring is pretty good there.

The white insulating disc has spots on two sides that look like itā€™s been glued in? Never seen that before. Guess Iā€™ll know when I go to break it down.

At 2.20A it seems pretty weak. All in all a good host, but needs some work to make it a good useful light. Still thinking it would make a better MT-G2 light than otherwise. Will keep that in mind when getting into the driver bay.

Not a bad light at the Group Buy price, although I think Iā€™d have been disappointed if Iā€™d paid more.

Thanks Steve, Ric, for a job well done!

Just got mine today but everything is good but the the head is all scratched up and marred up and the tail has been marred up too.
The ar lens is in perfect condition though.

Any thoughts on replacing the o-ring with a thicker one? I checked some of the popular sites on blf but didn't see anything in 57mm. Dunno where else to look.

Can you post a picture up of the damage and I would contact Ric.

I would've taken some pictures, but I already used a sharpie on the spots of exposed aluminum.

Got the first one today, I can see why Tom E is always praising this light, real good throw, nicely built, and compact size compared to other good throwers. The side switch with high, medium, low, and hidden strobe is perfect for the non flashaholic type and I also like it. Was packaged well, 2 bags of popped bubble wrap, wrapped in about 2+ feet of closed cell foam wrap(about 3 or 4 layers around light) and then in a bubble wrap envelope. Perfect except for 4 small anodizing nicks on the tail cap. Donā€™t know if they all do this but the Yezl logo lines up perfectly with the side switch. Very happy with this light. Thanks Steve and Ric.

Almost forgot, this thing throws really good.

The light is going to be a work light when Iā€™m done anyway. Thanks though MRsDNF for the group buy. Came through and pretty cheap.

You guys are spoiled if this is the norm :stuck_out_tongue: Now if I donā€™t ruin it. Lay off the beer

Well, after some testing I have to say Iā€™m not all that impressed. Itā€™s ok, but not a standout in any of the factors.

With EVVA 26650ā€™s from Richard, freshly charged, it makes 3.02A on 1 cell, 1.66A on 2 cells at the tail.

One cell shows me 765.9 lumens at start, 724.5 at 30 seconds.
Two cells show me 845.25 lumens at start, 724.5 at 30 seconds.

So it runs pretty much the same whether using one or two cells.

Lux with one cell showed 55.25Kcd at a calculated 470.11M
Lux with two cells showed 56.5Kcd at a calculated 475.4M

Itā€™s been argued that my test equipment always shows high. If this is so, then this light truly sucks.

In terms of regulation thatā€™s a win. Doesnā€™t dropout immediately on 1s and maintains about the same drive current on 1s and 2s. Definitely on the ā€œsuper tameā€ side for such a large light thoughā€¦

To each his own I guess. Bare in mind it will fit a 26700 cell like the KK 5000 (actual 5300+ mAh) Richard sells. To me it's an upgrade from a HD2010, but not in cost:

  • SS bezel, side switch, style, better internal design - pill-less with a very thick emitter shelf, ability to add extenders.

I havenā€™t tried one of those new ones yet though, the ones I have are not that potent. The 26700 Moli. Yes, for some of the HD2010ā€™s it is an upgrade, but the Tangsfire TS2010 is as good or better in fit and finish, at least the one I have is.

I personally am not that fond of the bigger lights. I did get the extra tube for this Y3 in order to use 2 cells for an MT-G2 mod, but I like a smaller light typically. Might be just me right now, perturbed at the way my Dr.s visit went today and still feeling bad. Oh well, another day looms nighā€¦

From what I've seen in reviews so far, I surmised that this light is fairly conservatively driven as stock.

I wouldn't have thought that seeking out uber-performance cells would make much difference until AFTER you modded it. Or am I missing something?

Well after some testing tonight, my Y3 has a really loud hum on all modes, I am really disappointed.

You are correct.
