NEW Acebeam K40M. Beamshots. Review to follow...

Not much is known about this fairly new model from Acebeam (formerly known as Supbeam), the K40M. A cousin of the Thrunite TN35

Basically it’s the same K40 body, same magnetic control interface, but with different internals. Now Cree MT-G2.

Let’s get straight to the beamshots  I compare it to beamshots I have on file of the Nitecore TM26 and K40 (XM-L) i.e. beamshots not taken on the same date, so the trees would look different.

This is the venue in daylight:

220 meters from camera to the gate/wall:

CAMERA SETTINGS: ISO100, f/1.8, 50mm equiv., 2-second exposure

Control shot:

Let’s start with zoomed out shots:

“Zoomed in” i.e. 100% center crop:

PRELIMINARY OBSERVATIONS:

Tons of light and some very decent throw  While it doesn’t throw as far as the K40 it certainly throws better than the TM26.

TM26 shows some vignetting in the corners while the K40M just fills the entire frame i.e. K40M has a wide spillbeam

K40 being a pure thrower gives tunnel-vision.

As expected the MT-G2 gives a good tint but the remarkable thing is the grafitti on the wall actually becomes visible with the MT-G2 emitter!!!

nice shots!

I can’t wait to get mine!

very nice shots, mine is on the way
on a side note mine is being delivered by deutschepost, never had them delivery before, how are they?

edit i have the tn35, anyone else got both, how do they compare?

not to worry, already been answered in another thread i asked the same question

Going to get one! But thanks to the nice shots!

I hope to get another code for that great light.
not as good as the first time, but still worth a look

Very good review ! Thanks for sharing… As the trees grew between image of TM26 and now :open_mouth: how long?

I got the SUPBEAM K40M before it was re-named as ACEbeam. (Prior to the group-buy :expressionless: )
It’s a good light, certainly one of the better ones I own.
Would have been interesting to see what it could do with a (very) light-orange-peel reflector though…

Would you say that the photos accurately reflect reality? Sometimes you have to play with the shutter speed because it can saturate the light a bit and make the flashlight appear brighter than it is.

Very nice pictures.

I am very happy I bought it. Now I just need to be patient while it is delivered. Usually I almost forgot about ordering before my order arrive, but not this time...

I feel certain that this light will mean that I won't feel any urges to buy any new flashlights for a very long time. Perhaps until there is something significantly more powerful than MT-G2. I think I will try to limit myself to a single good representative of each major LED-type, instead of several mediocre.

I will make an exception for the X6 GB, even if I already have several nice XM-L2 flashlights

So you can say I feel almost certain. ;)

Funny that they only use 2600mAh batteries for the runtime test.
With 3400mAh we can expect around 30% more runtime ?

How is the magnetic control ? smooth enough to be used with by the same hand holding the torch ?

Excellent beamshots, you did found a good place to shoot for beam comparison, you can see the amount of light how far it can reach or the spill. Some are boring to watch their beamshots for doing it 30-50 meters on tree tops! thanks

Your beam shots made me order one

Got a new Code!

but i may only share price and code via PM ( so stay pssshhh…)

Thanks M4D M4X! How long is this code active for? I’m hoping to see one or two more detailed reviews of this light before buying one.

yes this is about the same as the eye would see. pls see the control shot taken with the exact same settings.

PM price please

will do runtime testing in the final review.

magnetic ring is smooth. can be operated with one hand

got mine today

perfect package!
great light and nice tint
one hand operating is no problem (thumb and index)
not possible with 1 finger only…
my 70mm long Pana ncr 18650B fit tiiight

will do a small review in my blog
where the code can be found

ISO200

distance 2,5 m

Awesome shots! Thanks for sharing.

I’m caught between the thrunite TN 30 and the Acebeam K40M, and would appreciate your opinions.
I’m looking for a floody and throwy light with a good run time. The 2 lights r very similar in output and features, wish I could get both!

I’m looking to use the light for hiking, camping, biking and most importantly to light up a basketball court for an hour, the kids love playing at night but I’m currently using several Flashlights that don’t do too good of a job.
