CLOSED! Group Buy: Starry Light SA-22 BLF Edition (NW emitter, better modes, faster PWM, BLF logo)

Last I checked(week or 2 ago) he still had the BLF edition in stock at the same price as GB.

Which light do you have as there is two different drivers?

Looks like they’re actually $21.85 now… cheaper than GB! :open_mouth:

Its the same driver as well. Orsm. Now to how get around the ministry of finance.

Not war and finance?

I prefer to ask the cook. She has knives, but when she is the cook shes in a nicer mood Ive found. Maybe its the approach, “mmm something smells good babe, whats for dinner?, oh by the way, I need to order ….”. No such approach is possible when she is simply the the minister of war and finance.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Almost forgot the Great Horned Owl! Yeah, I’m going to buy another one, too!

Still no word from Ric regarding my driver mode issue, after at least 3 emails over 2 months I’ve given up and won’t be doing business with cnqualitygoods in the future.

But glad I at least got it and it does work - most of the time. Just turns on inconsistently, skips modes, and I have to cycle the modes to get to the one it was on when turned off. It’s a good bright beater light for the price, nowhere near as awesome as the D40A but an acceptable substitute for when I don’t want to potentially rough up or lose my D40A

Just wanted to share that price was again reduced to $18 (Promotion Price).

Will the body be plastic or metal?

Body is plastic and head is aluminium.

I dont recommend buying this light, mine has blank mode issue and thats what sucks about it.
Then again, for the price there probably isnt better 4AA light out there. Yet you have to think about it - buy lots of mediocre, unreliable lights or buy few reliable, well built, but more expensive lights?

I have 2 and love them.
BLF Edition has better modes— but I don’t use modes that much— so the standard version that “starts on high” is what I use most.

this is an annoyance rather then a problem, i hate it but the light works fine

unfortunately this means i can’t give the light to non flashaholics, changing modes is too complicated never mind this missed mode problem, that and the leaving the light on high will overheat it and almost no non flashaholic will understand or remember not to run on high for long periods

however the website appears to be gone so you can’t order it even if you wanted to

+1. Even so, I kind of like mine (NW tint) even if it is a little annoying :stuck_out_tongue:

i like it too, it has become my most used light since i got it, the modes are good, the batteries are bulletproof, its bright enough for most tasks, i even gave one to a friend who can’t be trusted with a li ion light, but i can’t give it to just anyone because of those two issues

Anyone have dust issues inside the reflector? Mine will have black dust residing in the glass and reflector after cleaning it for some time. Usually about a month.

Mine works fine and I’m very happy with it. I have even thought of buying one for my parents.

I bought one in NW as a bike light. Too bad they’re out of stock now, even with the dust and waterproofness issues it’s a decent light for the price, considering the relative scarcity of AA lights. Modes can be changed via forward clicky, maybe that causes the blank modes issue for some (didn’t notice it myself). The standard version seems to have too many flaws on top of that to be recommendable, I wonder why they left it like that.
I use it on med or high depending on how much fog there is on the road (usually plenty, especially near rivers). So far it’s not showing issues being run at high for ~2h, although I haven’t been using it all that often lately due to frequent rain and… laziness.

I bought the wrong handlebar mount, so I wrapped the light in camo tape for grip and insulation, then made a simple adapter from PVC pipe. The lanyard is long enough to fit around the handle as well, in case the pipe somehow gets loose.

Thats a nice home made effort. Looks like a real good holder you have made.

Dropped in to BLF looking for another light and thought I’d stop by here for an update. The BLF Starry Night is still working just fine. It gets used once every week or two for a few minutes by wifey or me. Perhaps my expectations are to low, but can’t imagine a better light for $28 delivered. Then again, I’ve only just started looking around  I see Gearbest has a special on the LUMINTOP EDC25 Rechargeable LED Flashlight for $32 delivered, which looks pretty sweet. I bought the Lumintop tool aaa mini edc early last year for $18 and am very pleased with it.

Anyway, really enjoying the BLF SN and the effort that went in to making it such a great value light. And it allows me to make the following critter spotting update from the top of the hill: Wild Turkeys, a Bobcat, two Coyotes (ate a fawn in our backyard!), and a few Bats.
