Looking for HD 2010 tailcap or copper spring cap

A HD-2010 I gave my brother lost it’s copper spring cap at the tailcap. He’s sorta deranged and I couldn’t get him to cop out if he damage or openned it up. The 2 pin holes are still working but I find it kinda hard it popped out. Anyways besideing buying a new HD-2010 is there a way to get a copper spring cap that covers the spring or just a tailcap I can buy.

You don't need the brass spring cap. I just removed the cap from my HD2010 and it works fine.

Actually, I remove the cap on a lot of my lights To reduce resistance. Brass is not the greatest conductor. I'd rather just have the spring with some copper braid.

If you feel you really must have a spring cap, go to the dollar store and buy a $1 light and use the one in it.

In fact, while I had the tail open, I braided the wire. I threw the brass cap in my parts box, as it is unnessary.

reallly? Ok so when i put a battery in it’s very dim. Like it’s not making contact, it goes thru all the modes but it’s like moonlight or low. Tried shimming it up with some washers taped to the battery but it didn’t help.

Hmm, remove the switch and inspect the switch. In order to ‘lose’ the brass cap you need to disassemble the switch which is what your brother has done. He might have done some other damage in the process.

The spring needs to be soldered to the switch circuit at the base.

Ok. Then it’s something else.
First of all, make sure the battery is fully charged.
Next, with the tailcap off, bridge the end of the battery and the shiny unanodized edge of the battery tube with a wire, or a piece of metal. If it’s bright, the switch might be bad. If it’s still dim, it’s the LED or the driver.
