Can you use a car battery charger for charging a 12 volt nicad battery from a cordless drill?
Different chemistry > different termination > not a healthy idea.
Yes, but it is manual charging…but you MUST monitor it contantly
Pretty much you watch not only the temperature but the voltage,
You can manually charge them…but you literally have to sit there and monitor constantly…always better to use a charger designed for the pack
Charge pattern for NiCd Delta V look something like this
as battery fills up to maximum charge capacity voltage drops, then the heat builds up…if you monitor constantly and see the voltage drop, that is full charge…but like I said. you have to monitor constantly…chargers do that for you
Safe answer is ALWAYS get the proper charger…period!
Then of course there is the DIY method
As I said before…Safe answer is ALWAYS get the proper charger…period!
IF you can find a 12V input charger for your 12V pack then i would recommend it, otherwise i would not
Would do it right.
What is a good value hobby charger for 12 volt nicad packs and 18650 li ion.
Would this be ok?
Trivial difference between the one you linked and CyrusAM. The one in your link looks a tad better ‘on paper’.
Sorry, my last suggestion was poorly phrased, I meant that I had one similar from them and I’m happy with the charger itself and value hobby. Didn’t mean to imply one model or another is better. If you know how to finesse all the settings you can do anything you’ll come across with that charger.
