The only way you end up with zero…
.5x-.5=0
x=1

So then work back from there.
(0+.5)*2=1
(1+.5)*2=3
(3+.5)*2=7
(7+.5)*2=15

Since I’m still scratching my head over toasters,I’ll come here and say 9.5.

This is a classic and kinda mindblowing.

A guy sets off to work. The trip is two miles. The traffic is heavy and he only averages 30mph for the first mile. He then hits open road. What speed must he average for the second half of the trip in order to have averaged 60mph for the total journey?
