Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

And at least around here in CT, all these clearance deals are on. The first pic is a repost of the twin pack of digital timers. I love these, they have a backup battery to keep time and they can be programmed off the wall. Simple 24 hour timer with on and off, do not even need the instructions to program.
At HD they are 2 for $3.83, that beats Lowes at $10.98 for only 1 of the same item.
BTW, they have a mechanical relay inside for the switching.

Here is the Lowes price

Now the led LIGHTBULBS. This first one is a favorite of mine, 525 Lumens M16. This is super bright and would make a good drop in for a drill pack light. A really, really easy 10 minute 18V power tool flashlight mod.

1300 Lumen Spot

This last one has nothing to do with lights, but I thought it was interesting enough to get 3 for Christmas presents. It is a unit that you place under your propane tank for the outdoor grill. It somehow measures the weight of the tank and displays how full it is (based on weight) on a gauge, It also has a free App for Android and iOS that will connect to your smartphone via your WiFi network so that you can read the status remotely.

More great finds. This really should be your thread dchomak. You the man.

By the way, I'm really digging this find. They only had one open one that I had to fix. Now that I got it working, I love it. Nce tint and really good output. Very hand indeed. Especially under the car. Thank you for reporting it.

I was just in hobby town like hour ago and saw a flashlight like that. But it pulled apart to have a bar of led along with the reflector design in the front. Was’nt bright though I looked right into it full blast and the guy was trying to hype it up.

Kind of salesy (is that a word) he implied that the light was great for meeting doods in a reststop bathroom- well something along those lines. I might have agreed with him before I got on this forum but after I blinded myself by doing what the kid of the left does daily- I couldnt respect a full bar of crees blasting me right in the eyes at 2 feet :stuck_out_tongue:

I only got to check one HD, no luck on the Defiant light.

I found three more Sunday, I had to stand on my ear to see them. They had fallen onto a bottom shelf way in the back. They had an inch of dust on them but they rang up. (my heart raced as i went thru the self checkout. I was hoping they would ring up for a penny, as I had cleaned that store out in the OP)

Thanks for posting all the LED bulb sale info dchomak. No luck so far here in VA. I don’t think my store has any of those bulbs! The website shows stock (at normal price) for the MR16, but I couldn’t find it in store. The rest do not show stock (and I didn’t see them either).

Grabbed a couple of those 8W M16 bulbs. They were hard to find as they were a bit buried in one of the clearance racks. They were marked $29.xx, but rung up for $7.53.

I'm curious if the "120W" has 14 - 15 XT-E's for $2 more, but not enough to risk $10.

Right now I am across the street from the West Hartford store. I found 6 more of the work lights! I also grabbed the last 4 M16’s they had. I asked, and the Bristol, CT store has 43 more, also on clearance for $7.53.

I am thinking of putting 12 of these in a 9 inch Cyclops flashlight head and running them off the 40v Ryobi chain saw battery pack I found in the recycle bin.
Look what I found in the recycle bin
The lights would be wired in a 3S4P configuration. That 40V pack contains 20 Samsung IMR 13Q’s. The pack is new and the cells are perfect. I don’t have the charger for it, but I could manually balance charge it.

If anybody wants any of these clearance items, PM me, and we can work something out.

Oops! Turns out that I missed an entire aisle dedicated to down lighting, fluorescents, and… a clearance rack! They had a bunch of lamps similar to what dchomak posted, with similar prices.

Yay! I feel like a winner! Got me some HD clearance lights as well as some heavy duty timers (not posted). Plenty of those MR16's at my store.

Did you get the dual socket 7 day digital timer?
And you need to tell us what lights you got.

BTW, yesterday I found a bunch of the blue womens glove, loose not stapled together as the set of 3 pairs. I found 1 loose tag also and brought them up to the counter. I suggested they should just sell them all for what the normal clearance price would be for 3 pair. They agreed.
They scanned for a penny! I got 5 pair and 1 extra right hand for 1 penny!

Timers have 3 prong grounded receptacles and are rated 15A. Digital $3.83, mechanical $2.53. Didn't see the work lights, but found your timers.
Oh, and my "clearance area" was in the electrical aisle by the bulk cable.

I passed up the "90 watt" flood light.

There is a very good chance the bulbs would fry. A lot of drivers do funky thinks as they start up and the input voltage won’t be evenly split between the bulbs. There is a chance one bulb could see the enough of the 40 volts to fry.

I actually had decided against it anyway. I put one in an 18V (21) power tool light and it is incredibly bright. Very warm tint though and not very practical because of all the heat. Today I returned 10 of them and kept 4 to play with. It was a nice fantasy while it lasted though.
Your post tells me I dodged a bullet on this one, Thanks.

Yes, that timer you got is twice as good. 3 prong and 7 day. I already have plenty of 7 day timers, I used a couple in my landscape lighting.

The programming on this one is so difficult I have to keep a copy of the instructions with it so I can re-read them when I need to change it. It too was on clearance when I got them and I think the reason they cleared them out is because no one could figure out how to program it.

Programming, that reminds me. Yesterday as I was walking thru Home Depot I came across two employees at the Wink Home Automation display. That’s a system where you can put lights, appliances in your home on your network and control them with a app on your smart phone anywhere. It seems the one had just set up the display and configured everything, but couldn’t get it to work. He was asking the other for help. I walked by and asked if they minded if I just watched, could be nice. They said OK and I watched them for 30 minutes as they attempted to get it configured. It’s supposed to be as easy as downloading the app, and then from within the app, use the included barcode scanner to scan each device to configure it. I was impressed, except that the second guy couldn’t get it working either.
After they gave up, I told them I would keep an eye on it for when it too goes on clearance.

Since we’re occasionally a little off-topic, a couple of HD bargains today. (I don’t know if these were just single-store only, or system-wide. YMMV.)

(retractable fall arrest box… includes a locking steel carabiner, all for $59.06)

The only thing that’s unsettling about it is that it says, “…No recertification is required with this product as it is considered a disposable unit.” Hmmm. ((edit: just realized that it’s probably the ‘screamer’ — the stitched together/fall apart under stress bit — that’s ‘disposable’.))

If fall arrest isn’t your bag, how about avoiding being electrocuted?

(box what beeps at a circuit breaker in your panel that corresponds to the plug you’ve filled with the other beepy thing. Only mildly cheaper than usual at $29.97)

I wonder if a bit of the frosting spray inside the tube where the lights are would make the light smoother or does it have a harsh hotspot?

Cheap find there though…awesome!

Many of the bulbs I posted about earlier just went to a penny. If you can find any, they are likely to ring up for a penny also.

This is the sum total of all the LED bulbs I got for a penny each. Sum total for all in the picture is 71 cents.
I got these over a period of 3 days at 4 different Home Depots, in fact I found 21 of then today October 19, so they are still out there. Many of the clearance items I posted about a couple of weeks ago on the Home Depot Deal alert thread, if still in a store, will ring up for a penny. Not only these LED bulbs, but the cell phone chargers, digital timers, etc. will ring up for a penny IF you can find any.
