Excellent deals on Energizer Ultimate AA/AAA

Do these batteries weigh less than a 10440? I would buy them for my ITP if it weighs less...

Well, I just bought the 4 pack and I'll let you guys know the weight if no one has the answer already.

Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAA 7.3g

http://data.energizer.com/PDFs/ea92.pdf

DX 10440

According to my own scales 9.05g

DX protected 10440

9.1g

They are lighter.

The difference is about the weight of a paper clip. For comparison a Trustfire F23 with a protected 10440 is 58.7g, an Akoray K-103 with a protected 10440 is 31.8g, an Aurora SH0031 with an alkaline AAA 35.6g.

I just weighed mine.

Blue Trustfire 10440: 8.7g

Duraloop AAA: 11.8g

Alkalines: ranges 9.9g-11.5g

I don't notice the weight difference very much when comparing the Energizer lithiums to 10440 or alkaline, but I definitely notice it against nimh cells. I like those Energizers in my iTP A3, and would use them in any AAA light on a keychain.

A sustitute for lithium non-recharge is PowerGenix

~1.6-1.7v

They don't have aaa though.

The weight difference between your scales and mine on the DX 10440s is quite alarming. 12% does not come within acceptable bounds of experimental error.

What kind of scale do you have? I bought the cheapest digital scale on ebay that I could find http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120549904775&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

It seems accurate when I'm comparing my RC batteries weight to what others on the forum get.

On the same sort of basis mine came from DX. And was really cheap. PM me your address and I will post you an object weighing less than 10 grams and we will compare scales. For an object of less than 10g postage to anywhere on the planet is not an issue. I am interested to find out.

PMed. I am also curious about the errors in these cheap scales.

DX has 5g mass for cheap:

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.20010

Unfortunately these cheap scales need a weight of mass equal to their max limit (1kg in my case) to calibrate. I still haven't found a perfect way to do this (maybe 1L of water, chocolate, gold bar, etc).

Water is probably your best bet. But remember its density varies with temperature 1dm3 of water at 4oC is one kilogram.

In this country food scales have to be carefully and regularly calibrated - and this is almost certainly the case with any country with consumer protection laws.

Buy a weight close to a kilogram of something dry that isn't a powder - hard cheese or pasta comes to mind and use that as a short-lived standard. From knowing the price per kilogram and the price paid you have the reasonably accurate mass. In most countries, the equivalent of the Trading Standards office will be happy to tell you the accuracy requirements for scales used for food sales which will give you the upper and lower boundaries for the mass.

Yeah, now I'm thinking about bringing something sculpable to the post office and trimming it until it's 1kg. Or maybe just bringing a bunch of misc junk and figuring out the right combination.

Don, you linked to the wrong batteries. Those are the Advanced lithiums. The ones in the ebay ad are for the Ultimate lithiums, which last longer than the Advanced. I just received them today. The data sheet is here: http://data.energizer.com/PDFs/l92.pdf

It says the battery weighs 7.6g. I put it on my scale and I get exactly 7.6g. I guess my scale's accurate. I still haven't received your package Don.

Oops!

Package was posted 6 days ago. Will be glad to hear when it finally arrives. I'd expect it to have taken less time than it already has....

Can you confirm that the battery voltage reached and the expiry date? everything in order? I might be interested if so...

Battery voltage is 1.78V. Expiration date 03-2024. The batteries did not come in the original retail packaging. The batteries were just bubble-wrapped and it was shipped from Hong Kong. Not really sure if they are real or not...

Well, I think it is difficult to make a copy of that voltage (brand truly have the same).

I think I will venture. Thank you.

Next time I go to the store, I'll take a look at the real ones and compare the batteries.

Any sign of the pair of forceps in an envelope yet? My cells have not yet arrived. Hopefully soon.

Hehe...not yet. The mail doesn't come until a couple of hours later. Your shipping time is pretty slow Don...I want a refund, or you're getting negative feedback!
