I'm probably in either way, but will you be able to get custom programming for a lower moonlight mode? A great moonlight mode is what I love about the BLF A8 you got for us.
“hard cardboard box with packing foam. Inside you will find the light, extra o-ring, wrist lanyard and manual.”
All included with the BLF special light?
Will both CW & NW versions be Gen 2, and not the gen 1 version with a weak switch?
Come on Rey, nobody here will accept an old gen XM-L anymore, the gen2 has been on the market for two years now and even the crappiest dx-light comes with gen2 leds.
For instance, I will only be in if the leds will be gen2 and neutral and 80CRI.
Reverse polarity protection should be added, else the driver is fried with wrong insertion of batteries, which is what often happens with current version
The moon must be just a few mA, 3mA at the most
Also it would be great if the mcu would be tiny 13a so that we can mod the code.
It is funny that everytime when there is a GB/custom light offer it always start a new debate on the driver modes, choice of tint… blah blah blah.
Why don’t we just follow the specification below,
Quoted from the BLF X6 GB (kronological’s thread, with minor edit), which has came to an agreement by most people. Maybe there are certain things we cannot follow exactly but this is a good reference anyway.
In the future whenever there is a GB for custom light we can always refer to this.
If the driver is modified for reverse polarity protection and the GB version is updated with an XM-L2 NW, I’d be in for one. Otherwise I’ll have to pass on it.
For example, this Lumintop SD10 uses an electronic side switch and has a wide range of battery options. Something the X6 does neither of.
I also think it is unlikely that every/any group buy/manufacturer will want to adhere to the same specs and demands.
And frankly, I really don’t want the same light, with the same tint, the same modes and the same output just a different shape. I want different lights because they aren’t the same as other ones.
I think you’ve got the right idea there. Obviously (from the popularity of the BLF X6) these specs are “good” for a very large portion of the BLF community. I would add one thought, however. I think most of us would get bored if every light had these exact specs. It would be cool to have things narrowed down to a few choices for the GB organizers to choose from, not just one choice that stays the same and only the host is different. Maybe there could be two or three different mode groups, two or three lens/reflector choices, three or four power ranges, a few different battery configs, etc. The person or company doing the customizing could select from the narrow field of choices to make a light they would be guaranteed to get at least dozens of people interested in. I’m not always going to be in the market for a light like the custom X6 we’re getting. I sometimes want a more subdued max output, or a tighter hotspot or wider flood or smaller host, etc. depending on the purpose of the light.
In order that this thread doesn’t just become wishful thinking, can we get some feedback about what is the manufacturer / seller willing to customize/fix?
