Why, If I buy a light marketed at $27 I’m sure they’re paying a considerable amount less than that so that’s saving them money right there. Not to mention on their reply to my initial message they offered a replacement or full refund (my choice) so I figured since they were being upfront in fixing this right off the bat I would offer to take a lesser refund and not have them have to pay to get this back to scrap it (my DX light arrived today so I have a good one to build), it would be nice to have this one for fitting parts and figuring out the tail mod and shit, no way it can be sold tho and its so bad I really can’t even use it for a personal / beater light.
This light is literally unusable, the driver issue wouldn’t be a concern really but the reflector is trash (and if I wernt me and was wanted to use the light as it came the extra click really hinders that). The worst (deepest) spiderweb surface damage is about 8-10 sq mm; a 2x3mm square area and another spot about an inch over that looks similar but is slightly smaller, these look like some sort of mechanical arm (for a P&P machine or something) crashed into it, the overall damage to the reflector coating however is much much larger, several square inches.
Edit: The majority of the time they don’t even end up wanting the broken light back, so I kind’a offered them something for nothing in that regard. I’m not the average customer either (and they’re aware of this, at least a few CS ladies at GB are lol), I only sell a handful of lights here a month but I am literally shipping a minimum of a light a day, the majority of my business happens off these forums, as such I’m buying lights nearly daily to mod (we all know how far out you have to order from some of these places so I have to keep ahead of demand on my ordering hosts). Let’s just say I’ve had more than my fair share of dealings with CS departments from different china shop’s, my offer is definitely more than fair.
I guess we all have our own way of looking at things; I disagree with you. I’m aware that it’s normal for many Chinese sellers to refund without a return in situations like this. I just don’t think much of the implication that while the light is not worth $0 to you… it is in fact worth exactly $2.99.
Dale, I remember that light well, I’m still keeping that in mind for future damaged reflectors I receive however the damage on this reflector is deep into the metal, not just on the surface, I would have to remove a few thoul. of material, not just sand off the coating and polish.
I’ll get pic’s hosted soon.
BTW GB was more than happy with my offer, they took me up on it right away and even offered upgraded shipping (over NL post) to get it to me faster (I assume so I can post about how happy I am)
95% of the flashlights are black.
That is pretty boring.
I have 3 lights that are not black: The Roche F8 and one SRK Clone and one “NEW-612” in Grey. That’s it.
I would love to have different Colors. Maybe even a white one? Or dark Red, dark green, etc.
Just ordered one… Thought the expedited shipping was $1.99, was 12 dollars … DOH! … oh well … scroode the pooch on that one … that’ll learn me to pay attention to what I’m doing. ahh … Well, it may get here a little quicker now anyway, we’ll see …
PS- the “gbcourui” code still is not working for the gray btw … so I got black … I think they look pretty cool in black …
Ordered the Yezl Y3 with extension tube yesterday.
The Courui still is a nice light - even for 35$ it’s still cheap.
But for my plans, the Yezl is better. The Courui would be a pain in the arse to mod into a MT-G2 light - with the Yezl it’s easy and it has more cooling fins.
