Ouchy, is the clip actually integral with that liner? The ultimate deep carry, the way thatās made, for sure!
Cool knife, unique on the ray skin insert. I have a ray skin that I meant to make a phone case out of and never have. Interesting use of that here for a grip panel.
The clip isnāt integral, but might as well be. It is removable.
All the Mcusta knives I own have these type of pocket clips.
Lovely knife, Iāve always liked Mcustaās designs.
That looks very robust, where do you recommend having a look at Mcusta knives?
That burl is exquisite! Yeowza!
Something different in the afternoon
Basically just google Mcusta and all the big US knife sellers will pop up. If I could get US prices, Iād have whole basket of them.
Hereās a link for Japanese knife direct.
Unfortunately, all the nice ones are sold out, but itās a great place to see all the models and material options. Lots of choices in handles. If you find one you like, then you can search around.
EDIT: my mistake. The pocket clip on the Stingray is integral.
I spent a good part of the afternoon at Japanese Knife direct and saw some phenomenal knives. Now I have to forget I saw em.
Here's an inexpensive knife that gets my seal of approval.
CRKT HEIHO
Really nice micarta scales.
Fast fast "outburst" assisted opening with a razor sharp elongated tanto blade.
Deep carry pocket clip.
This knife is a razor.
Edit: I just checked, and the new ones have G10 handles instead of micarta. My Heiho is AUS8, but the new ones are 8Cr14Mov.
If I havenāt posted it already.
Cold Steel Recon 1 in XHP steel.
If I have posted it already, sorry.
Not busting on any owners. But the one I had rusted if it heard water running. I will never own another CRKT
What model was it?
Ken Onion , Shenanigan
What rusted? The blade, or the liners.
The blade
We have such long summers with very intense heat and sweat can kill an inferior blade. The Ti liners or frame makes a huge difference. I was really hoping to get a DLC coated blade but oh well. Not like Iām out there sweating like I used to be.
One of my favourite knives, the only fault with mine was that the liners were a bit sharp cornered - 5 minutes with some wet/dry to knock the edges off and all is good. I like the steel, 9Cr18MoV, quite tough, holds an edge well but is easy to sharpen.
I have one too, very nice knife for the money, I also blunted the edges of the liners with a diamond file, cut the clip a small bit so it doesnāt protrude out and scratch or snag on things, and RIT dyed the brown scales in black color.
Steve and Alex:
Which part of the liners did you find sharp? Iām curious because I havenāt noticed that at mine.
Alex:
Could you post a pic about your shortened pocket clip pls? Iām also planning to mod mine.
Anyway have you seen the all black version with partially serrated blade (Knight)?
