What blade did you EDC today?

What model was it?

Ken Onion , Shenanigan

What rusted? The blade, or the liners.

The blade

We have such long summers with very intense heat and sweat can kill an inferior blade. The Ti liners or frame makes a huge difference. I was really hoping to get a DLC coated blade but oh well. Not like I’m out there sweating like I used to be.

One of my favourite knives, the only fault with mine was that the liners were a bit sharp cornered - 5 minutes with some wet/dry to knock the edges off and all is good. I like the steel, 9Cr18MoV, quite tough, holds an edge well but is easy to sharpen.

I have one too, very nice knife for the money, I also blunted the edges of the liners with a diamond file, cut the clip a small bit so it doesn’t protrude out and scratch or snag on things, and RIT dyed the brown scales in black color.

Steve and Alex:
Which part of the liners did you find sharp? I’m curious because I haven’t noticed that at mine.

Alex:
Could you post a pic about your shortened pocket clip pls? I’m also planning to mod mine.

Anyway have you seen the all black version with partially serrated blade (Knight)?

The inner edge of the liner, the side not touching the G-10 felt sharper than it should be, no cut fingers, just uncomfortable when playing. 600 wet/dry wrapped around a length of 10 mm dowel and run all round and all is good. This is one that I had to do nothing else to it, it was smooth opening and closing even without a cleaning and oiling, still is as well.

Harnds Black Mamba, I’d have bought one without the serrations.

$20 on ebay.

I’ve bought from runonrock before, he has an on-line store as well as the ebay one, responds to emails rapidly.

The smooth action of my Viper was a pleasent surprise for me too.

Fasttech sells the black version as “CK6016 Knight” although there’s “Black Mamba” on the blade…

Here is my viper, the scales were RIT Dyed black (Used the powder RIT boiled for 1 hour after thorough cleaning to remove grease) the color seems permanent and has held up perfectly after months of use

Here is a closeup of the clip, I just cut about 5 - 7 mm and gave it the same round form with a dremel. It doesn’t protrude much now.

I also put locktite blue on the blade opening metal disk on the top (What’s it called?) so it doesn’t unscrew itself with use.

FastTech are just not very good when describing knives but to get the wrong name is beyond typo’s.
The prices are good though.

That would be the thumb-disc I think.
That looks great, almost makes me want to try it but I have too many black scaled knives and the brown is a nice change. Very nicely done.

Good job.

I’m planning to drill several holes into the liners to save some weight and I’d like to replace the pocket clip with a smaller one.

Bob Lum Large Chinese Folder. I love bobs blades.

And while I have it out, I wanted to show you my pink variant.

The blade is numbered #2. I can't believe I got hold of this.

Me too!
