Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

This time for a penny

Cheapest I was ever to find was $12!, was it marked 5.66 or did you scan it?

It was marked $5.66… they had them stacked at every checkout, so you knew they were serious.

And I’m super-jealous about your worklight finds — I’ve been looking and failing everywhere local.

ruffles have you tried the Home Depot in SJ at 'The Plant'?.

So here are the pics of "closeout" or at least "reduced priced" items that I found at two different Home Depots over the last couple days while I was dchomak'ing through the store.

I expect these will be clearanced soon. The blue packaging on the right just seems like a new package, not any change in specs. Price still ends in a "7" though. Perhaps it will go to a "6" soon?

Perhaps these will go to a penny soon? On the app, it scans up full original price.

Another "3" price; pretty good discount already. May not stick around for a penny. I have no use for the above or below items though. App scans it at full original price.

2nd Store (Bucket's neck of the woods). Pretty good discount with a "3".

Really nice price on these $36/$28 Hart framing hammers! However, the price ends in a "2"! What is the significance of a "2"? Think at the first store that I saw some closeout prices ending in a "4" as well but apparently didn't get any pics.

Ah, here's an item I saw with a "4" price. What's this mean? I've been thinking to get one of these too! I passed this one up. I will recheck on it at the first store.

No more of the clearanced LED bulbs :( .

Here's some interesting reading on pricing secret codes.

Thanks for the report Garry. That article is interesting. I need to make a credit card sized cheat sheet for the various stores.

Those hammers look real nice. Curved wooden handles rock when done right.

These gloves on clearance ending with a “2” also eventually rang up at a penny. IMA4 got some and I got some. So the rules are not hard and fast. From that PDF file you linked to, It confirmed what a manager told me. Ends with a “6” for (6 weeks?) then on to “3” for (3 weeks?) then out the door into the trash. Look for the progression and keep track. Maybe get lucky and catch them on the shelves at .01

All the Christmas displays were out today, when I went to home depot. The lights, the knives, the tools, etc. A Coast zoomie that is polymer, not aluminum. Two of the big defiant lights, 3D and 4D, both have triple leds in them. Deep reflectors, might be great for 3 XM-L2. Also the 50 led 4xAA light and the normal 3xAAA lights, two to a package. Some coast knives, a lot of tools. I could have bought a lot, but with no money, all I did was look, LOL.

Hey Justin, we can look at all the stuff at Lowe’s together and splurge on hot dogs when we leave. (lunch money is all that’s left anyway)

Assuming other Lowe’s stores have the hot dog cart at the exit door. That smell of grilled onions gets me….

Man, you just got me real hungry.

Both Lowe’s and Home Depot here, dropped their hot dog stands. I imagine it was due to health reasons, but I’m not sure. I miss that smell when I go to there. Always loved the smell of those dogs, when I went in or came out.

Cool. Hope you pick one and do one of your great break down threads. They were still not out here at a nearby HD yesterday.

3D and 4D triples? That just screams “OL Mod me!” if there was ever a light to say that.

OL. Would you have a rough idea on what size reflectors were in the triples? For example an individual reflector the size of a P60 or C8? Thanks.

The heads are the same, just one has 3D and the other 4D. The whole reflector diameter is only around 50mm, so the three cups are about the size of SRK cups, but just lengthened out.

So, 50-55mm overall diameter and about 45mm depth. Each cup maybe 20-25mm in diameter. Looks to be XP-G2 possibly, but I could not see the led well. Maybe even a smaller die than XP-G. I'm sure it will be a plastic reflector and it is a plastic lens. It's $30 for the 3D and $40 for the 4D. I don't see them selling well, but with the overall cost of flashlights in retail going up tremendously in the last year, maybe they will be scarfed up. I sure won't buy one. I can buy a Maglite for that price and have a much better light to mod.

Thankyou sir.

and I checked my GPS and found out that there was a HD just over the state line in Westerly, RI
So I stopped by to check it out.
I made a bee line for the LED bulbs, just to see what they had and if there were any more of the clearance bulbs. This is what I saw.

Look at that, LOTS of the same bulbs I found in several of the CT stores at a penny each. But look at the discounted prices, they end with “7”, not the “6” or “3” as with the CT stores. I brought those bulbs up to the self check out hoping that they would ring up at a penny, but NO, they rang up at the posted price. Now I am confused. Why is it that so many stores cleared them out, but this out of state store has them on a different clearance trajectory?
With the post by someone in another thread about how his HD had tons of the OLD 5-C Defiant flashlights at $5.66, I am thinking that maybe when they clear out stock that does not sell, they don’t actually throw it away, but send it to a select few stores and try to clear it out there?
Anyway, I walked around and saw a few things, one of which is the Philips 60W equiv. bulb for $2.97! I got a couple, they are 3.97 in CT.
I saw these PVC adapters actually priced at a penny, but passed. Thought I would let someone else have the fun.
Wasn’t that magnanimous of me?

The cheapest I ever saw these before were $10, marked down from 34.95

This power strip was originally 9.88 and was marked down to some price that ended with a “6”. Now it is in the next stage and is at 2.53, ends with a “3”.

That is all I saw at that store, and only bought the 2 Philips 60W LED’s
Did get 2 battery packs on the way in though. One was no good, the other had some gunk that was spilled on the top and oozed onto the BMS board. Once I cleaned that off, the pack charged up OK.

Different clearance trajectory… that’s pretty much what I run into every time I go to Home Depot. Pretty much nothing is ever on sale here, especially not at the kind of prices you’ve been finding.

I did get some plastic organizer bins for $1 each a while back, but so far that’s the only deal I’ve ever found.

Maybe the pricing is controlled regionally and that store is in a different region. It seems the individual stores can override national/regional prices. My experience here in the SE is closer to ToyKeeper's, but sometimes dcho's deals happen here.

Well I stopped back at my local HD this morning, specifically for those Hart hammers, and came away with some pretty good clearance buys. Here is what I found:

Quite a few of these surge strips left; I grabbed 2.

Just noticed the above lifeP04 batteries in the landscape lighting section. 14430's & 18500's.

All Hart hammers are gone at this store! DOH! Should have grabbed them last Friday at the other store! (Note the boxes in these photos are not the correct Hart boxes.)

So here is what I walked away with - $12.53 after tax. Hacksaw blade 2 packs @ $1/ea and the knife sharpeners (I use for machetes) @ $2/ea.

Didn't have time to run to Lowes (it's only right across the street).
