S2+ 18350/16340 version and CR123 version

7135*8 will not damage a high quality imr18350 or imr16340.

What is the prurpose of the CR123 version, since the body is not thiner ?

If you can make a host with a short body that takes an 18350 I'm in. Since I started vaping I've collected some good IMR 18350 cells that could drive a nice triple LED hot rod shorty. 16340's just don't cut it any longer.

It probably incorporates a boost driver instead of the 7135 linear driver due to the lower voltage of the CR123.

Yeah I imagine so, but if I chose a CR123/16340 battery format it’s not for the capacity…but for the smaller diameter

Simon, could you tell us what driver do you use in CR123 version, please?

More than likely using a buck driver (same ones that use the 1AA/2AA, which means people that can get CR123’s on the cheap have ready made battery supply on hand

Oh and thanks for the AWESOME customer service Simon!

7135*3 single mode driver

Those work w/ a 3vdc CR123?

WarHawk...I'm guessing you meant to say boost driver, not buck driver.

A 7135 will work with a single CR123, but it is very weak.

Yes you are correct…my mistake

It will provide some start current limiting with fresh battery, but will quickly (within seconds) fall out of the regulation and go into direct drive.
So I don’t quite understand why use driver at all…

The S2+ reflector is about 7mm shorter than the regular S2, so in order to fit a triple we need a much thinner spacer than the one RMM sells. Too bad the S2+ pill despite being taller doesn’t have a thicker led shelf…

Would be nice if someone could make a tall, threaded solid copper pill exclusively for triple builds.

I believe I have seen someone solder in a few 16mm copper disk, then sand/lap the pill flat, then mount the 3x Noctigon on that.

The S2+ I believe doesn’t need the spacer at all for the optic to fit perfectly (it has a short reflector)

Can the CR123A version be ordered with 2*7135? For a small single mode light, I would prefer to have a little less light with longer runtime. If it can’t be ordered with 2*7135, I can remove one 7135 myself.

Other than lower output, are there any downsides to running the light with only 2*7135?

You will get roughly the same output with two 7135 as with three, or one, or eight, or whatever.
CR123 just doesn’t provide enough voltage for the driver to regulate something in this setup.

i can remove one 7135IC for you

Have to admit I’m confused after the latest posts. This driver, that driver, buck, boost, CR123 cell not able to provide enuf juice, etc. I thought the 18350/16340 looked like a nice offering, and right at 500 lumens. 2 sets of modes, choice of tint … is this a decent light at the price, or not? Not sure if the website counter works but it has stopped at 2 orders?

anybody know anything?

In the photos, it looks like that the body is a little bit brownish-black and the tailcap isn’t - is that on every light?

18350/16340 version will work fine. It’s the same old S2+, just with smaller battery.
