Thank you Dale! Your info. makes sense. You made my decision easy!
I find it odd that Olight mentions nothing about it and ALL the different dealers also do not mention it as an accessory!
On the other hand I am not sure why the guy would sell a light w/ 2 X 18650 batteries and the extension with the light? If it fries he would be liable for a certain amount of time.
Unless I'm mistaken Olight's M3X Triton is almost the same as the M2X-UT Javelot but takes 2 18350 or up to 4 CR123A cells. That one, though, does not come from Olight with a de-domed emitter.
I would wait until we confirm with Olight. None of our updated catalogs show an accessory tube like that. I took a look at the Ebay listing you linked and the extension tube doesn't seem to have the same knurling design as the rest of the light.
That looks like a Convoy L4 extension tube, they're pretty new on the market. I have no clue whether it fits this Javelot or not.
Edit: Taking a close look at both my Convoy L4 and Olight M2X-UT, the threads are not the same. The Olight has square threads. In that pic from ebay, that extension tube seems to also have square threads. The knurling is similar to the Convoy but the threads look different. Seems to me that putting an extension on the Javelot makes it a Triton. Same design, same head diameter, probably same reflector. So I'm not sure why you'd want to. But whatever floats your boat! :) Odd though, that Olight doesn't show that extension.
True, except the Triton[which I have] is Not de -domed!! It is 91Kcd compared to 164Kcd!
I agree that otherwise it would be the same. I think the only reason someone would get the ext. tube is for longer run time[that is what is for] realizing that they would sacrifice compactness.
Beam tint is on the neutral to cool white with a green cast. I wish there was a magenta filter to whiten it up, but could be a cool hunting light with a green filter.
I didn't know that at first. I've never seen the plastic case. The box looked neat and all, and of course I got no holster, no o-rings, no lanyard, no instruction manual. I had little to go on. And I wrote, as a Con, that it didn't come with these things. I got a fairly quick reply from Neal that I got a review sample, not shipped with accessories. Geesh, an instruction manual might have been nice! Then I'd have at least known what it was SUPPOSED to do, so I could test it more thoroughly. Oh well.
I measured everything I could think to measure. Metered everything I could put in a box or hook a wire to. Then tore it apart and rebuilt it. Gotta admit, 278.75Kcd sounds better than 164Kcd. Right? Gained more than a football field in throw, like beyond both endzones. Works for me.
I am hoping mine looks like jeter68’s!! We both got it from Illums, then again, they ALL came from Olight in China!
I will find out tomorrow. Bottom line is as long as the beam profile is not affected, it shouldn’t matter,I hope halfway bent bond wires would stay stable!
The bit of silicone stuck under the wire sure indicates to me they de-domed it themselves. Remember that this one is off the star, has been re-flowed and replaced.
The 5D MkII is a full frame sensor with 21MP. My macro lens is only 100mm.
