Don't get one. I purchased a pair through DX about five years ago. I gave one away, threw the second in my gear bag, and have never even used it. Worthless as a knife, the other functions are inconvenient, and the entire thing is hampered by having unprotected knife and saw blade edges.
> I wonder how effective it is as a glass breaker.
Not something you want to test while hanging upside down in the seat belt between rising water and flames.
I recall reading that most cheap “glass breaker” tips are metal, which simply isn’t hard enough — they need some super hard ceramic tip to reliably break glass when there’s no time to mess around.
In this video there is a test of one tool with steel tip and it’s useless:
Wonder if they even bothered hardening the tip. I have a red hammer with hardened tip, like the ones installed on buses. I know they don’t always work on first strike though.
Interesting video. I would like to try this myself…
on the other hand you never need to break a class from the inside, you can just use the built in window opener…
I was going to try out these “signal lamps” from cnq, but they said they did not have any left. Does anyone know a good place to get them or something similar?
