FS: LD-1 driver (5Amp pwm-less linear)-SOLD

Yeah, we didn’t pre-pay, but we are still getting people wanting more lights: the Sign-up List thread is still active! Pre-pay isn’t a bad idea, though, since we have here a guy we know we can trust.

Maybe not with $10,000. :stuck_out_tongue: (1000 people at say $10) Just sayin.

Plus I already bought 4 at full price, so no discounts for yous.

Obviously we need to set up a micro-lending bank, all contribute toward its assets, and use it to encourage creative people who want to build things new in the world — then boost their ideas into mass production so everyone benefits. “To the future … and beyond!”

But I’m not gonna wait, the regular price and quantity 3 isn’t too much for this high end work. (pm sent)

Every light that we order from China is prepaid :)

Mitko, the Convoy L4 is problematic for a driver swap. It’s driver is larger than 17mm, it has the e-switch mounted on the driver board, so it requires piggybacking a new driver which is not idea for the LD-1 as it would then be “air mounted”.

The Eagle Eye X6 benefits greatly from this driver and it’s an easy replacement. 1500 lumens otf with a Pan BD cell. Best of run time and very good output.

There are several reasons why I didn't talk about mass quantity/group buys yet:

1.You can't know possible interest without running relatively small test batch;buying 1000s of parts is too risky if you don't know how big the interest is,

2.Driver design is still "fresh",not ver1.0, but I see place for some improvements;when I think that design would be "good enough",then I can think of larger production

3.Even at 100-200 quantity I'm having problems with parts availability, that means I'll probably have to buy full reels from various sources, and that's a lot of money

(mouser, digikey etc. often have "only" few hundreds of the same component ,they go fast, and lead time for new stock from their sources are often in months).

Same thing happened with first batch,PIC12F1840 was out of stock almost worldwide, but thanks to OldLumens who ordered them from Newark, first batch was successful, but with 3weeks delay.

P&P service fee is quite high >1000$ just machine start.I considered simple DIY P&P machine,I see there are some on net,but I don't have time for experimenting and building such machine, and there is always a risk of complete fail:)

True, EE X6 will have one for sure, but my main goal now is to make 1500lm thrower. and here the leading part is exacly that driver, cause i need a single cell thrower

Yeah, i could buy Olight M2X-UT Javelot , but i dont like its switching mode, m24 sniper is a bit large, and not 1500 lm
Plus, i think its the best for one to buld his flashlight, then he values it most

> I see place for some improvements

Well, I’d be glad to commit, make a deposit payment toward, or pay for three, whether of the existing or next version.
Think about what would encourage you.

I know one can be wise not to take money in advance; it can lead into problems — I’ve seen that many times over decades.

But I like being able to find people who do this sort of thing that I wish for but won’t be doing myself.

This is part of the future I was hoping to live in, and I’m glad I lived long enough to see it starting to happen.

Mitko, at the risk of sounding like an Eagle Eye X6 fanboy… a de-domed XP-G2 R5 1A at near 5A will do ~100Kcd.

About to test a SupFire F9 with a de-domed XP-G2 S2 2B that I just built, cell is charging.

Well, everyone has their own reasons for their own price points for components buying and selling. Mine is I was thinking I would be able to order multiple Eagle Eyes for gifts with significantly higher output than they have, and since I don’t want to double the cost of 5-10 lights or so, and I’m deficient in the experience/skill some of you have, so its a pretty significant cost for me!

It just looks like a nice driver and I was hoping there was an option to lower the cost by buying more, it seems we have a lot of interest already, and then that interest was amplified by the X6 not performing turbo to a level most are satisfied with, seemingly enough to get hundreds of these ordered I’d bet.

Yeah, talk to me about EE X6 love, i ordered 4 from the GB  Its truly a nice torch, i prefer it over Skyray or Xint, or C8, or any of the flashlights that i have - ofc for all arround use, even from M22- more pocketable, same beam pattern, even same emitter tint and colour( maybe they are same)

Will do ofc, how do X6 performs with XPG2? I have never tested that emitter( r5), only at work, but lower bins, usualy arround 3-5k q3-4, and since XTE is widely spready arround here we usualy work with XTEs

After dedoming, hows the colour? cause i absoolutely dont like wha i see on most XML2s, they became either too yellowish, or green, or even brown……currently i have only one bin that i acceptable after dedoming, t6 7000k from FT

I get the impression that 90% odd of those who complained of lack of amps in the X6 would not even wire the springs, let alone change a driver. They probably do not own a soldering iron, and many lights were for gifting :santa: without even opening the box.I’m sure the X6 group buy will generate orders for the Led4power driver, they are made for each other. But it will be in the dozens, not hundreds, because modders only, even if a simple mod.

Ahh, I don’t know, especially if it were say $10 range. +.3A seems to be what the spring wiring does from tested reports, this driver allows for a lot more significant results for the work than that, plus more functions/modes and no PWM!

I haven’t followed the BLF X6 thread closely. Have driver swaps been documented for problem units?

I don’t know about problem units, but driver swapping has definitely been done by Dale in a BLF X6 he modded for SB. Dale has said that the LD-1 is an easy switch-out for the stock driver and makes an impressive difference.

Unfortunately the ‘problem’ units are the ones that really matter when it comes to the topic of potentially popular driver swaps on the BLF X6. We all know that DBCstm is capable of squeezing high current out of a stone.

Has to chuckle. I like what L4P has done here and hope it inspires him and others to continue this kind of effort. It doesn’t always pay off monetarily so something very like a GB can be helpful in spreading risk.

Djozz, for things that everyone uses like springs it might work to go ahead and set up a prepaid investment thread to purchase custom PB springs in a larger quantity since it would take the buying power of many of us combined to pull it off and commitment to buy from even more. A custom mcpcb would need this approach but one person would still have to be point man to set it up and disburse packets when ready.

Hey Neven, whas up with those lovely drivers or yours? Still Cooking eh?

One of mine EEX6 is crying out loud for a driver like that

IN STOCK again.

PayPal sent for two items

Hopefully these will make the BLF X6 even better than it is now (Especially when the 25R batteries arrive)

Do these come with a spring mounted?
