GB for the "discontinued" Olight O'pen

I had a little run around with GearBest. Don’t really know what they were trying to accomplish, but I am glad that it worked out. Hear is a copy of the conversation with them. Kinda humorous.

Received my o’pen. Declared value was 19.98$. Don’t know if it’s a random number or what it would costs without shipping but for me it was at least a safe value.

Really like it. Bright enough, nice feel, good quality what I expect from olight.

I received my O’pen too.
Great looking light, plenty bright on AAA’s.
It comes in really good looking retail packaging, it would make a good gift.
Thanks for the deal.

Glad to hear things are arriving. In 3 days it will be a month since mine was supposedly shipped and I have not had any other China order take this long. My first GearBest order too.

I am beginning to worry. No update to 17track since 11/14 (14/11 for Europeans) when Netherlands post supposedly shipped it to the destination country. USPS reports “Not Found” per 17Track and using the tracking number on the USPS tracking site gives a orange “ALERT” message and a additional message which reads “USPS Tracking™ is unavailable for this product for NETHERLANDS”.

This is the first time I have seen the USPS give this orange alert warning format rather than simply state that the number is not in their system or give tracking information.

At least I got this tracking today.

Sorry - I got my 2 lights earlier this week (a red and a blue).

My wife “liked” (not loved) the red one, which is unusual (she thinks that my fascination with lights is “silly”… she actually is carrying it in her purse now :)…

Rich, if you haven’t had any orders take a month before then you’re lucky. 6-8 weeks has been the norm for most(fast tech and EE X6 being notable exceptions). I hope you get it soon though. This is a nice looking light but at ~$30 was just a bit too pricey for me. I am not a collector! I’m a modder, really!

Almost all of my orders have been from FastTech so maybe I have been spoiled.

Ordered on 10/27, received 11/24. It’s a nice pen light that I’m quite satisfied with. The switch is a bit stiff but on the plus side, that will reduce the likelihood of accidental pocket activation. Thanks Old-Lumens for putting this GB together.

I have a question. There’s mention of some kind of lock out, pointing to the area around the switch. I thought you might be able to twist the end to lock out the button, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

So what is the “lock out function” that their talking about? It’d be nice to have that to prevent the light from coming on accidentally in her purse.

Thanks,
Jim

P.S. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

EDIT: I figured out what they meant about the lockout. The threads are anodized, so you can lock out the light by loosening the part of the body that has the button to lock out the light.

I am impatiently anticipating my blue O’pen…

red one was in my mailbox weds.
almost seems brighter than my Preons.
If I pd. $40 or $50 for this, I wouldn’t be very happy.
But this was a great deal at this price.
it will make a nice dress shirt pocket light.
thanks again Old Lumens for your troubles bringing us this deal.
Jim

My blue one came today, sweet light and just in time.

Thanks!

Got my blue one today also. Thanks to O-L for the group buy

Just received my blue Olight penlight today. Arrived with box and light in perfect condition. Took just over a month, but all is perfect.

Thanks OL and Gearbest!

Got home from work last night to find my blue one in the mail box. Love it! Thanks Old-Lumens for setting this up…. It must be a good one since my better half said to me last night “ohhhh, what’s that?”. :open_mouth:

My two arrived in good shape today, a Red and a Blue. All of mine including the original Black one do not have the front section glued to the battery holder tube. Not able to remove bezels though so far. Overall I think that the O’Pen is my favorite penlight due to the overall shape which most closely resembles a tail click operated ballpoint pen. The biggest disadvantage has always been the price which is why I was happy to see this sale. For medical use checking eye reactions I suspect that the lowest setting may be on the high side too.

I remember reading somewhere that the very top cap that clamps the pocket clip on could be used to lock out the light. Not on any of mine but the threaded split at the plated ring just below the bottom end of the pocket clip does provide a lockout and the ability to change modes using a twist type user interface rather than the rear switch if desired. Be nice IMO if more lights offered multiple colors of anodized finishes.

I finally received my red O’pen a couple of days ago. Very nice.

No pen for me yet :frowning:

Anyone manage to stick a high CRI 219 or XP-G in one of these yet?
