thanks Al

i have had a couple of the nite-ize both failed and they are rather expensive over here £12-15= $15-20 for the 0.5 watt

the first one was replaced by the shop and the replacement also failed

i only used it a few times the shop closed down i lost the receipt and got no reply from nite-ize on emailing

but thanks for the suggestion

Barrie

It was worth a shot right.....did you check the GoldenGadgets led.

i bought 10 of the ones from goldengadgets they are very poor my fenix L0D gives out more light no low 9 lumen's

i got 7 of the 4.5v and 3 of the 6v 3 of the 4.5s have died and most of the others only have 1 or 2 of the LEDs working

DO NOT buy them but they were very cheap

But it isn't that great - still well brighter than the original though. IMO it is at about double the price it is worth, it is an old Luxeon 3 design.

Get two of these from Kaidomain at $16.99 - unprotected D lithium cells assuming you have something that'll charge them - it is easy enough to make up an adapter to charge them in any 18650 charger. Just be aware it will take quite a long time (up to 10hr depending on your charger) to charge them.

One of these shortened tail springs - or cut your existing one down - these cells are a bit longer than normal D cells. $3.99

A metal reflector as high powered bulbs will melt the stock plastic reflector. You can spend a fortune on these or you can get one of KD's ones for $12.99 for a smooth one (more throw, less pretty beam) $15 for an orange peel one (less throw - but still a lot and a prettier beam)

The opening in the reflector will allow fatter G4 bulbs to be used with an adapter (Sadly KD is sold out of their cheap one) though the Philips 5761 bulb which is the favourite for this needs some sort of regulator to stop it from dying on switch on. It is a lot cheaper to use a Pelican 3854 bulb set. $9.99 from Lighthound who are great to deal with and get stuff to the UK in a few days.

For your $70.95 (£43.67 at current exchange rate) you will get around 1300 lumens with the high bulb for an hour, or 2 and a bit hours of lots of light using the low bulb - you get both.

Not cheap - but hugely powerful for about the same as many shops will sell you a 2D LED.

Not something to hand out to kids though, the batteries are too expensive for them to toss when they are flat then put in alkies and discover it won't work.

I have that upgrade in my Mag it's not bad for the money you can see the output in my beam shots post.

I also used it as well.....performance was on the low side for me when i compared the beamshot to a Cree Q5 N3.

Can't comment as I've never had one. ROP is the way to go with Mags if you want lots of light without spending silly money.

Well i dont plan on buying another since i have other lights that are still brand new and not getting used......too bad you guys dont live in the states....raffle time.

Count me in!

Lol, just knew you were going to say that.

:--P

Sorry for sounding stupid but what do you mean by ROP ?
