Update - $29.95 from GB, on the Ultrafire 1226 - GOLD COLOR ONLY

$29.95. GOLD COLOR ONLY.

IF you want black you have to "wait for a while", till they "get some". Whatever the hell that means, but you won't be getting black till they have them and it might be a day or two weeks with these people. If you bought a "Black One", then contact May@gearbest.com, to get your refund and if she gives you any crap problems let me know.

No Group Buy at this time. GB can't get it cheap enough to discount the price any more. I think it's too high as is, so I'm dropping the idea.

Here's a light from GB, that I know would serve as a larger reflector light for the MT-G2 and it would could run 2S/2P 18650, for longer run times. I like this style of light and I prefer it for walking.

Ultrafire 1226

On Gearbest it shows as Uniquefire, but the light is an Ultrafire. It doesn't really matter, these are made under a bunch of brand names. Anyhow, I just want to see if you would be interested in this type of format for the MT-G2. It has a larger diameter reflector and it can be modded to 2S/2P 18650.

Of course, it can work well for the XM-L2 for a thrower. I just thought it would be good for the MT-G2.

This light is also made in a darker brown color and I am finding out if that is available as well. We might be able to choose, if so.

I have one coming, so I can tear it down and see what we have inside and give some details about it. I have played around with lights like this before, but that is back when I thought "massive heat sinks" were the answer, which I now know better. This one will have a thin heat sink, but if it is placed well in the head, it should transfer the heat out.

Anyhow, at this moment we could get it at $30.49, but I am working on a lower price, so if you have any interest, just post here.

Interest!

Definitely a good host with mod potential for any of the traditional emitters. Super thrower with small emitter or decent throw with big emitter. Seems to have enough surface area to handle an MT-G2.

If I recall correctly, the pill had a hollow center but was actually pretty thick and very big. Press in a copper disk and it should be good to go. I have a old review of one here.

I’m curious how the handle feels? Is it well balanced? If you are holding the light by the handle, does it feel front heavy?

Interested

interested for certain.

Does this light use a battery carrier? I’m guessing no.

No, it’s just like an SRK battery section, or very close to it.

Thanks OL. Can you link me to a 2s2p conversion for this kind of battery setup? I’m drawing a blank right now.

Well, here's one way. I do believe I also did it with an SRK clone, but I would have to do some more searching.

I think that is another way, but since I am at work and can't see the photos, I might have linked to something totally different.

WOW!!

The first link is the one I wanted to see. I think I’ve seen you do that on another build as well. Thanks.

I would describe it as slightly front heavy. Not a strain to hold, but not balanced. Fine for casual to medium length walks. On a long hike, it would probably get on your nerves.

Isn’t this the same light but black and cheaper

An MT-G2 light for $30? Is this correct? or its the light to be used as host only?

Yes. Interested.

The light would come as XM-L2. It would need modding to be MT-G2. It could be done fairly easily, with an Ohspark 7135 driver with xener mod or a FET DD, made the right diameter to fit in the light. With a copper insert in the pill and with a 26mm Maxtoch star. I would do a video of the mod and mod options. The driver gurus could do the Oshpark board easily, as it's just a matter of size, using already known components.

This light and the other one I am waiting on info for, are just less expensive hosts for people who want to do an MT-G2 mod themselves rather than buy a light already done. It's just a thought, if there is enough interest. Or they could just keep the light stock, or mod a higher powered driver in for the XM-L2.

Between this one and the Dipper 19, people could choose between body styles.

I see OL. I have zero tools to perform modding and thus have untested modding skills  Until I get some proper tools, I won’t be able to try myself at modding. So I guess I’ll be passing the offer. Thanks for the answer though!

nice light , prefer it black thow ,i hope it has mass pill for the heat.

Definite interest depending on the level of complexity in modding for the MT-G2.

Looking forward to your updates.
