I had one too many suggestions with this, and some may want to retrofit quads in there and before agreeing to the final design specs it just made me confused, and i was in the process of machining some new hosts,
As of now, 3 prototypes later, I am in need of a moment of clarity with this, as soon as i have another concept i will resume this once again.
Actually i have one working prototype that is a screw in, all aluminium though but with one xml2 led, this barely got warm to the touch at 3amp single mode driver i had at hand.
P60 reflectors would still be used, so its a great option imho, thanks for the suggestion.
Please work on it, will have better contact to host than wrapping with foil. May be I’m wrong, but imo you can sell it like hot cake.
Aluminium can be good enough for this model, although some may be still prefer copper version for their own reason.
Sometimes you just got to simplify, do what you are comfortable with. Suggestions are one thing, but it's your call ultimately, and I'm sure well' buy what you come up with. I'm thinking comfy's position of alum vs. copper has a lot of merit. If it's easier, cheaper for you as alum, I'd definitely go that way. As comfy has been saying all along, as long as the star is copper, everything after doesn't make much of a difference. Mass and a decent path to outer cooling (fins, etc.) makes all the difference.
I'm a bit spoiled now on e-switch lights - better UI, switch problems elimination, etc. Dunno if it can be accomodated, but again, just a suggestion .
Wow, just saw this… If it’s not too late to chime in, I would love to see something with compatible threads to the Surefire P/C format like Solarforce and the likes. It would be awesome to lego parts together. I know that’s not something some people care for, but I’ve always been a fan of the format that is so versatile where you can interchange body parts.
And I’m sure many know about these already, but thought I’d mention them just for discussion purposes. Being a frugal flashaholic, I always wished there was someone willing to cater to us the budget minded with affordable custom work… so cheers to sinner and count me in for at least 2 of what comes to fruition here.
