Iker… if it interferes on the diameter, you can probably just peel off the label.

hmmmm there is no label, just a clear wrap and if removed the side protection circuit stays exposed. I think I’ll keep pushing them, it is not too bad

It turns out that my words that S3 has more floody light applies only to S3/S2 comparison, but not S3/S2+ comparison. They said, that S2+ is more floody than S2:

And I found out S2+ and S3 have the same reflectors. So I can’t find any real difference between S2+ and S3 for now (except S3 has unscrewing bezel). Does anybody know the difference?

I think S3 with the stainless steel bezel is the big difference.

Thank you for the clarification. I still might buy one and try to press out the stainless steel ring. I guess I’d also need to bore our the diameter of the switch hole to make room for a “normal” 16mm boot.

That would be problematic. I certainly don’t need stuck batteries on an every day basis. I wonder if Convoy knows about this or if it is prevalent in this model or build.

Is this the red S2+ being offered here or one you already had?

It sounds like Iker has one of those double-wrapped batteries: Panasonic’s wrap, then a strip to connect the protection PCB to BAT+, then another, clear wrap. Some protected cells simply have the bare cell, a strip insulated with Kapton tape and then a single outer wrap.

Yes, the batteries are as wight describes, panasonic NCR18650B which are among the largest 18650 out there with 18.4 mm diameter. Nightspy, this is not the red 2+ presented here but a grey one received from fastech 2 days ago. Probably identical in diameter though but this should be confirmed. It is really not that big of a deal, just that the battery does not slip out by itself but needs a little pushing. The convoy is not to be blamed, these batteries are a tight fit in other devices as well, including a convoy m2 which is much larger than the s2+.

I think all my Pannies are double wrapped but none have gotten stuck in flashlight tubes. My Callie’s Customs came with very think labels, so they came off immediately; my KeepPower labels started fraying, but still fit and come out easily. My XTAR 2600 cells are probably the tightest of them all, and even these tolerate labels. I am pretty sure these are all double wrapped.

I guess the worst case is when a label is put on a double wrap over the protection lead.

I might just have to order this light and see for myself. Not too much trouble to chuck it up in the lathe if it turns out to be on the smallish side.

Anyway, back to ordering this purdy lite.

+1 for all above.

And one in noble British Racing Green, please.

Yours has a green boot, right? I believe that is the old version fwiw. I don’t see the new S2+ on FT’s site.

Yas, mine is green boot. Didn’t realize that there was a different s2+ with black boot, I just saw it at Simon’s site. There it says that “the inner diameter has been changed to18,7 to avoid rattling of batts”, so my guess is that its fit is as tight as mine or tighter. I can tell you, a protected pannie does not rattle for sure: have seen looser condoms.

Convoy may have bitten a big one with that ID mod.

I just measured my new EvvaTech 3400 mah cells (MMR) and it comes in at 18.66mm at the jumper lead under the cover and no label over it.

My KeepPower 3400mah cells at 18.62mm. My older XTAR 2600 measure in at 18.59mm

And Simon, if you are reading this, you might also note:

In rigid mounted bicycle flashlights, minimal solder on the springs is a real problem and potentially hazardous.
I have had spring solder joints like this crack and could be dangerous is it shorted the cell by the spring touching the housing or other components. I have learned to resolder the springs on my bicycle mounted flashlights. I make sure the solder is all the way around. No more failures.

Also, having the spring on both ends is important for bicycle mounted flashlights. This is what prevents mode shifting from bumps. This is one very good thing about your flashlights.

i have to rectify: the one i just received from FT with a tight fit has BLACK swith so I guess it is the new version which explains the surgeon glove- fitting

Ordered 2 sets of red S2+ host on the 22th, shipped on the 23th

Thanks Simon

Once again, please provide this as a host in other colors than red. There was some info about blue version, not being sold yet.
The metal switch cover instead of silicone looks nice and I think many of us would appreciate it being available with other color options as well. Heck even sell a black version of this tail with the metal switch cover.

I love a nice deep blue purple. I’d take standard blue too.
Unfortunately Simon (convoy-flashlight) hasn’t been online on BLF for 10 weeks. We can message him through aliexpress though.

A nice deep olive green, or a dark earth brown would be good colors as well for this light….
