deal alerts: @ ebay, all flashlights below $5

The 2*AA light looks like the Ultrafire C3 sold in Fasttech, except that the FT one is more expensive and comes with 5 modes but probably better.

With AA or AAA lights I always want to have lower modes with them, because the single mode which is also the high mode always drains these small capacity batteries too fast.

All these $2 lights pretty much have the same characteristics - plastic lens/pill, generic LED, lottery tint, and one-mode only.

I have used an MXDL 2xAA, it’s tiny and pretty good (in the “cheap” class of course). Fits nicely in pocket, nice tint (got lucky there), long runtime.

Let’s keep this going. This is an awesome idea for a thread  I have already bought a few per the aforementioned.

Hugsby XP-1, XP-2
Probably the best AAA/2AAA flashlights for the price

That’s cheating - they’re not eBay.

They aren't AA or 2xAA ....they are AAA and 2xAAA.

they are nicely made ...a little slick.... and the clicky is a bit hard to use .

i've asked a number of times if anyone knows where to buy a 10MM forward clicky to mod these with .tailcap unscrews it isn't just pressed in and the light uses a xre emitter not a chinese junk emitter.

the 2AA light listed above is pretty lame and should only be considered as a body host to make a longer sk68 light

The little AA zoomy three mode or #3 zoomie has gotten back to its original price.

good for gifting

one of those zoomies..

$2.80

I just received this same light, but got it from Banggood. And LED is pressed in, lense fell out immediately. Glued the lense and bezel in. Purple tint LED on mine. One spring in tail.

^ Purple tint, This excellent deal on XP-E2's could fix that.

Ships “worldwide”…except for pretty much any part of earth that isn’t the continental US. Bizarre.

If you want a better quality light in a similar stile, I suggest http://www.dx.com/p/mt-104-cree-xp-e-q5-60lm-3-mode-white-zooming-flashlight-black-1-x-aa-14500-254994, $ 5.56.

Nice cheap 18650 beater light or to strip for spares/modding. Now down to £1.89/$2.85

How about a Mini C8 $2.09

I got one of those from that seller last year. Fastest shipping yet at 7 days, Hong Kong to UK.
Cute little things and surprisingly bright - the brightest of my non-cree AAA lights.
Build quality is a bit iffy in places but about what you would expect for the price.

Thanks for the update..

great to know.. when people consider buying it!

It’s only a great deal if you need several XP-E2s, due to lack of base and shipping cost.

The LED is fixated by the reflector, which is press fit. Basically just a polished metal ring with slightly raised edges, not very effective esp. when zoomed out.
Emitter base is 14mm wide, driver 15mm. You can file down a 16mm emitter as I did, buying one in 14 mm is easier https://www.fasttech.com/search?14mm%20emitter. Lens is acrylic, 15.7mm (bushing could fit up to 18mm tho).
Also consider: this light can be had slightly cheaper on AE (search ‘XPE flashlight’) and there is a single mode version (although I wonder if the 3 mode has stronger output like it was the case with SK68s… maybe I should buy one after all.).
