Tank 007 BLF

I think the idea was that it would be part of a series of three Tank007 lights (see link below). So the other two use Cree XP-G and XM-L LED's and have clickies. This one was an Osram with a twisty to fill other niches. First released a couple of years ago, the E07 has a lot of good reviews, so it is already a known in terms of build quality and many of the E07's had a neutral tint. In fact, the only thing most reviewers said would be an improvement was to add modes. So a 3-mode E07 with a nice Low seemed like a no-brainer. I'm still looking forward to getting mine, but I'm concerned about the tint, the PWM, battery fit, the memory, and not crazy about the mode order.

I have my own and I have bought several to my friends and none of them

have had or have a green tint.

AA S1 with modes would be the perfect EDC

This best sums up the reasoning behind the BLF Edition. I personally always admired the E07, and read positive reviews, but I needed modes. I never expected that Tank007 would have to change the dimensions of it and introduce new glitches into the design.

The mode memory was per our request, although we didn't expect it to have this rather different logic. Still works at least.

I don't have any special narcissistic reasons to emblazon the BLF brand on all sorts of flashlights just to have it there. It's simply a differentiator so that it won't be confused with the standard version, since many of us own and many sellers carry the standard version of the lights we choose to customize. But if it's not customized, I see no reason to put it there.

I can see only one problem with this kind of thing. Budget Chinese lights don't really have any new product testing that goes on in the design phase (if you want to call it that).

So, the market becomes the testing grounds. Many fail and we don't buy them due to word of mouth. Some turn out to be good and those are the ones we buy.

When we ask a (budget) manufacturer to customize a light in some manner for us all bets are off. Since they never did do any new product testing and changes that we request won't be tested until they hit the market.

In companies with actual new product testing no changes of any kind make it to production without (expensive and time consuming) testing.

I don't see Tank continuing to be interested in these custom orders if they have to take the hit if things don't work out as we would like. They aren't making a lot of profit in the first place. They make more money not customizing lights.

It's an interesting experiment and as long as the members of BLF don't mind taking the hit you may get some interesting lights from a manufacturer but the odds are probably not in your favor.

Seen a bad one ... Needed a new driver , so I put in a multimode boost driver ..

Stuff happens ... [ and its a shame ]

BLF Tank E07 .

Unless one of the resident mod gurus comes up with an easy , cheap and effective way to make this light work well , I'm going to consider this

" Once burned = Lesson learned ".

I would love to hear from some one that has both , and some calipers ..

So they can tell us where things went haywire ...

To date : with the limited info available , is the blame going to the pill ... [ Goes deeper in to battery tube ] ???I ground

I dont know why I was fortunate to get one that works well with nimh and my 14500 ??

I ground my pill to make a little more room , and its much better now , but I would not call it a fix ..

consider yourself lucky … mine is a lovely shade of anti-freeze .Or commonly referred to as …puke green. I’m also not fond of the body or clicky .

Interesting! Could you please tell me what driver you put in? Link?

This one ...

I´ll look at it.

If a company like Tank007 can’t make a custom light for us after claiming that they can, then why would we really want them to make one at all? Not only are they taking a hit but we are too. At this point I’d rather have a standard model of the E07 that at least works perfectly as advertised with nothing more done to customize it than having the BLF logo on it. At least we know they can do this well and it’s less headache for everyone. We support BLF, get a good deal on a quality light with no surprises, and everyone wins.

I disagree, once we find a capable manufacturer we would have the chance to get high price light features in a budget light. It would help if the seller (in this case Manafont), would do a function check, before shipping them out. Multi-mode and NW were the main reason I ordered this light. What's the point of having "BLF" painted on a standard light? The whole reason for the logo was to set the features set apart from standard editions. I would rather loose the logo and have my dream light.

That's all good but as I said, if they can't deliver on all the promises why deal with them for a custom light in the first place? We either need to find another manufacturer and/or reseller that can test and deliver a flashlight with the promised features or, if we can't, we need to find lights that we know we won't get burned on.

I'd LOVE to be able to get a good deal on my dream light too, but I'd rather not get burned for it like I did on this E07 deal. If we can't get our dream light without being burned then I at least want a light with features I want that I KNOW will work as promised and at a good group buy price with at least a BLF logo on it that separates it from the rest and supports the forum and the reseller.

Well.. we can now give Ric a chance to see if he can deliver on this criteria with the AA light he recently proposed. He might have a different concept behind what we deem "custom" in that maybe he thinks we just want a logo printed on the light so we might have to be a little persuasive.

The BLF logo will not make me and many others buy a single light, that offers nothing special besides the logo. If you want that .... why not make some custom BLF stickers and slam it on your favourite light and voilà.

I still have hope that we figure out a way to do the custom lights. If the only the prototypes weren't so expensive... sigh.

Got mine today and it seems that most of the rampant whining was without merit.

  • OSRAM Golden Dragon PLUS emitter - check.
  • Neutral tint that makes both an iTP A3 Q5 and a Uniquefire AA-S1 look blue in comparison - check.
  • Works with both Eneloop and Duracell alkaline - check.
  • The head can be screwed in basically all the way if the bottom screw is adjusted - check.
  • Lower low than the iTP A3 Q5 rated at 1.5 lumens - check.

In low (only) I can hear a humming sound if I have the ear around 2 centimeters from the light, so the problem is easily solved - don't have the ear 2 centimeters from the light.

Glad to hear that you got a functional light .

Us whiners did not .

That gives me some hope... fingers crossed.

It doesn't seem to fix all the duds that have been reportedly shipped and it doesn't discredit their disappointment.

I'm still waiting for mine, but the good news is the batteries I ordered on ebay (China seller) AFTER this purchase arrived two days! :)
