EDCGEAR carabiner tools, mini prybars, keyring gadgets, etc.

Just received this knife and can’t figure out how to get the blade out? Not sure if the item I received is damaged or I’m missing something obvious, but any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

On Edit: I’m referring to the Paper Knives EDC.

Which knife?

There are two photos that I can see one above and this one
Notice the position of the slide on top of the knife, they are in the same position but on one the blade is retracted and on the other it is open. Could it be that the blade needs re-positioning after shipping. A lot of these blades have two cut-outs on the top of the blade allowing different positioning.
Sorry I don’t have one so I can’t tell exactly what the problem is.
Pictures would be good.

Just pull it out, helps if you push outwards the retaining spring on top at the same time. I was a bit puzzled at first with it too.

I made a GIF showing how to extend and retract the blade:

There’s a frame lock along the top, where my thumb is. Press the frame open and you can slide the blade out. Release the frame to lock it in place. (this may take some jiggling) Repeat to retract the blade back into the frame.

If you look at the photo above that isti posted and the photos I linked too on the AliExpress page then the blade is retracted and extended with the slide in the same position?

Thank you and to everyone else who responded.

For some reason, I though there would be a small release button like on standard utility knives. I’m quite disappointed with this knife as I was expecting a little better quality. Much thinner and flimsier than expected. Both slabs of metal has significant pitting and even the blade that came with it was chipped. Oh well, $7 lesson learned.

Has anyone heard from Chloe lately?

Why didn’t you buy the Rexford version for $150 ?

Nope, she’s not been around for a little while, not posted on britishblades forum where she was active too.

:frowning:

Since FT, er, neglected, to publish my 2 (of 5) star review of this mini biner: EDCGEAR “S” Shaped Stainless Steel Anti-theft S-biner Carabiner, https://www.fasttech.com/p/1890000

Save your money!
This has to be the worst clone of the nite ize biner — https://www.fasttech.com/p/1792300 — ever. The security lock couldn’t initially be operated with finger strength. After I took a pair of pliers to it and wrenched it back and forth a while, it bent the gates enough that it could actually be used, though barely.

Thanks Essexman. I hope she is ok.

Thanks for the review, I’ve been eyeing those for the past few weeks. I guess the original Nite-Ize KeyRack locker is the cheapest way to get micro-locks.

I like to try the form-factor before dropping that kind of money on these “toys/tools.” Hinderer clone -> loved it and ended up buying the real thing. Strider clone -> looked cool, but found it uncomfortable for EDC. Rexford Clone -> not a fan of the size and prefer a more secure locking mechanism for the razor blade.

I checked out a real Rexford at the TAD store and wasn’t impressed considering the price. The blade sliding out worries me the most, but also found it too long to fit the coin pocket of my work pants (Gerber E.A.B fits perfectly).

Like with most knives and lights, the budget/knockoffs does everything I need to do at a fraction of the cost. My life doesn’t depend on these things (Amazon boxes aren’t that threatening), so I can’t justify the QC and durability of the name brand stuff.

Ok. don’t take it seriously.

After checking out the original Rexford version could you explain me the hype about that $150 boxcutter?

No worries, I sensed the sarcasm in your original comment.

I honestly couldn’t tell you what the hype is about other than being “tacticool.” Fit/finish was very nice, titanium, and had a fancy TAD logo. Even so, IMHO, still way overpriced considering it’s just two slabs of titanium screwed together.

Then again, I felt the same with the rest of the TAD store. Overpriced tacticool gear with similar quality to Carhartt or REI branded clothing at 3x/4x the price.

Here are my ordered products of the last 2 months:

I'm still waiting for my Sanrenmu elephant tool - maybe it broke out of the envelope and plays around the Post DHL package center, because I'm still waiting - it left the customs service office 8 days ago (distance between the office and my home 35km - sometimes the German Post is really slow).

What’s that tool at the bottom right corner?

If you see something like this RUN !

It's this tool: Banggood, $2,69, Yes, it is an affiliatlink.
The endfinish isn't perfect (take a look at the edges). The material thickness is the same as the tool on the left.

Seems like these are sold at a lot of different stores. Any recommendations? Ebay retailers have them as well sometimes for less… is buying from Ebay retailers with high 99% ratings a better way to go or is it best to use sites like DX, Banggood, Fasttech, Gearbest or Aliexpress? Any thoughts or suggestions about where to buy and not get ripped off is appreciated. I’ve bought from DX mostly but sometimes DX seems more expensive.
