Poll:1st BLF Original Ti

I might be more interested in a solution for 2x18650 with an S2+.

Dangerous, which were you actually more interested in?

4.Other suggestions?

Convoy L2 with aluminum reflector optimized for XHP50 or XHP70.

As nice as the Convoy L2 is, I doubt there will be 200+ people shelling out for a Ti version.

As mentioned i the other thread, I prefer the S2 over the S2+ because it has the IMO better, deeper reflector.

As long as all of the threading is the same as the S series, so as the tubes/tail/internals can be interchanged, I’ll be happy.

djozz: Define 'better'... In principle a deeper reflector has slightly more throw, but probably not with OP. It does have slightly less flux output (lm) due to the higher fraction of reflected light and reflection losses. Thr biggest difference is the smaller spill angle which I personally am not happy with in an EDC.

Sorry, I agree that 'better' is not appropriate in this case, I should have said: 'different' and more to my liking. I prefer the narrower spill area and wider hotspot (of ~equal brightness) that the deeper reflector provides compared to the shallow one.

AA (14500 if you must) light, less material for lower cost and a common form factor (and most everyone has eneloops)

My vote would still have been for an 18500 light —— because you can’t buy one elsewhere and it’d make it a lovely unique high performance light.

The thing to remember is, this was muted as a host only — which means each of us will need to source the rest of the components to complete it.

The AA form factor is just so limiting in terms of drivers, stars, optics, reflectors and switches. That it no longer is a self assemble DIY host, but a custom build that will require you to compromise or spend loads or both.

Having a host that supports 16mm stars and 17mm drivers is in my opinion essential. This physical size means widely available reflectors, optics and switches are also easy to buy.

So my view still stands, make this an AA light, but make it big enough to support the above points/specs. Which means it would be an 18500 light.

An 18500 size would allow:

-AA to fit (maybe with an easy to make plastic insert to prevent rattling. Springs at driver/switch may solve this anyhow.

–14500 support

–18350 support (small spacer, easy/cheap to make)

–16340 support

–18500 support

So it would be an AA light, but so much more.

No other batter format will offer this versatility.

I'd like more bling! Something more special. Convoy is a nice light, but can't understand the appeal for it in titanium.

So I chose "other".

I think Rey is going to use the Convoy for the machinist to measure all sizes and internals. The looks on the outside are by no means necessarily going to be Convoy style.

You make a good case, however i assume this will double the cost of the host.

Ok, gotcha!

so its meant to be legoable with the convoy s2!?

Honestly don’t know, that’s for Rey to let us know. Although I’d be surprised if double the cost, as it wouldn’t be double the material.

how much it cost for S2 with ext tube?

I think the S2+ ti version with enhanced looks/features is a good idea. I voted for 18350 but would be okay if 18500 or 18650 or such is the choice. A combo with 18350 and 18650 would be nice too. Also, a request for triple compatible pills or spacers?

I vote a Convoy s2+ style with a tube to fit 18500.

I don’t see why?

I kind of like the 18500 idea, although I’m not completely sold.

Yes! If the pill threads just go far enough forward for a triple to be installed without a spacer that would be very nice.

A titanium 18650 light is going to be super expensive. I vote for S2+ with extension.
