Have you previously dedomed XP-L 1A’s? What approximate tint did you get after the dedome? I’m looking for something not warmer than a 2B or 2C after dedome and wonder if this might be obtainable with the XP-L

They also have XP-L V6-1A pre-order on aluminum base for $3.75 add $1.50 if you want it on a sinkpad

some people prefer the XML2, but I prefer the XPL simply because there is less tint shift after dedome

I have not dedomed a 1A yet. I have done a couple 2A’s, and they both ended up close to a domed 3C, (but less green, so maybe a 3D or 3A)

Did you dedome using gas method or heat and lift dome with scalpel method?

Gasoline. I hung the star upside down in it and waited for the dome to fall off. It took about 15 hours. I’m not sure why it took longer for me than other people, maybe too much ethanol in the gas?

This is interesting, so you say that the XP-L’s goes 2-3 steps to the right only? i was under the impression that the XM-L2 goes often 3-4 steps to the right + 1 up on the ansi white chart………hmm i may have to rethink my quad XP-L with tint mixing and dedoming build, i based that inadvertently on XM-L2 “rules”

And if the XP-L goes more just right and not so much up maybe a 3D will look nice dedomed? i kind of like warm tints but i had previously thought it would go to much yellow, but it may end up a 4S or 5A2………that sounds very very interesting

No, the actual light-emitting surface is the same size on the XML and XPL

Got an update that my order shipped, with tracking (total was $15.40), so maybe orders above $15 get tracking. I had a $12.40 order and it never got tracking.
