intl-outdoor has XHP50 6V~12V...What does User Configurable mean? I want the 6V option to drive off 2 x 26650's via DD.

intl-outdoor has XHP50 6V~12V…What does User Configurable mean? I want the 6V option to drive off 2 x 26650’s via DD. I would get it already mounted on the copper star.

(I am thinking its like the MTG2 6V LED which runs perfect off 8.4V input)

I want to purchase the XHP70 too but there is not star available for it. I wish they came with copper stars too.

Do you see how on the bottom of the LED, the anode and cathode pads are split in the middle to be 2 pads [each]? The same LED can be used at either 6 or 12v by the way you wire it up.

Yup…I see the bottom and the T shape cut outs on each side, but how would I that come into effect for me If I am buying already mounted on copper board. So, I would never see the bottom of LED

Do we know EXACTLY that MCPCB’s they come on? There’s a few options, either the board is specific to the voltage you want to run (i.e. you specify when you order and you cant change it) or it could be like a sinkpad where the MCPCB is the same between 6v and 12v and you can add / remove solder jumpers on the face of the MCPCB to change the voltage it runs at.

Since it’s at Intl-Outdoor, and the only option there is Noctigon, I expect an XHP50 will be in 6v configuration an XM-L mcpcb. If you want 12v, you would need to buy the bare LED and reflow it yourself onto an XHP50 sinkpad.

yeah, I think I would have to confirm somehow that it comes on 6V board. Especially hard since they don’t mention it or show pictures of the copper board they would provide.

Where Do they sell sinkpads for XHP50 or XHP70 in the USA?

To my knowledge, Noctigon doesn’t make XHP stars yet. The sinkpads are available at mtnelectronics.com

Wow, thanks didn’t even think to look there since they don’t sell the XHP emitters yet.

Especially like how the sinkpads are already in 6V configuration. You only use the jumpers if you need to make it 12V type.

If needed I can also reflow an emitter on and configure it how you need (of course you’ll have to provide the emitter) but I can reflow it for you also at no charge. If you need just the sinkpad MCPCB I’ll drop it in an envelope and stick it in the outgoing pile today, if you need an LED solderd on we can work that out too.

if you want 6v for an XHP50, you can just use an XM-L Noctigon. That’s what I’m using.

XHP50 will work on any XM mcpcb but in 6V mode only. To use it with 12V the +/- pads need to be split and have an extra trace to run the two halves in series. Somewhat similar to mce but only 2 instead of 4 address able circuits.

  • For XHP50 6V, just use an XM MCPCB
  • For XHP50 12V, use a 12V Sinkpad
  • For XHP70 6V, use a 6V Sinkpad (the 12V version is configurable for either, but will have more losses in the traces if run hard at 6V)
  • For XHP70 12V, use a 12V Sinkpad

Anyone found the upper limit on current for the XPH50? :evil:

I just ordered a xhp70 6V with alubase from Leddna, they are getting them in a few days.

Max current for 6V is 3A same as XML but C/W is less than half (2.5 vs 1.2) so I’m wondering just how hard we can drive them or how susceptible they are to over current.

Wow, I would not have expected that much power through them. Still, the relatively hgh Vf of the 50 will limit 2-cell current. Can wait to see how a J2 3D looks.
