I tried to get pictures of what I'd call a shadow in the center of the hot spot but failed miserably so I'll try and explain them.
The 35mm reflector from Cutter with the XHP70 led has a large shadow in the center of the hot spot which I could not tune out. Overall it had a large hot spot, large shadow in the middle with a large flood of light around the hot spot.
The DST was the first light I tried with the XHP70 and it took along time to tune the reflector to get the smallest shadow in the middle without losing the intense hot spot. I've lost a little on the light meter out the front but come to a reasonable compromise. Compared to the smaller reflector I'm not complaining about the shadow. Keep in mind its not perfect.
I tried lots of different reflectors by holding them against the XPH70 led in the DST from P60, C8. the reflector used in Maglites and HD2010 and was not really happy with any of them though this was a pretty rough way of doing things.
A picture of the Cutter reflector.
Left to right. The Cutter reflector was fitted into a much modified F13 XHP70 2.7A, HD2010 MTG-2 2.7A, DST MTG2 3.7A and DST XHP70 3.7A. All currents at the led.
